After Mikki's break down episode, she sat beneath the tree of feeling just staring at nothing for hours. As Nightmare watched her with great concern, all he could feel was negativity from his new sibling. 'Aren't they supposed to be guardians of positivity,' he wondered. Nightmare was almost afraid to speak to them again. He didn't want to upset the other but knew he had to do something. Before he could say anything to Mikki, said skeleton spoke.
Mikki: Maya.
Nightmare: What?
Maya: My name is. My name is Maya.
Nightmare: Oh! Its nice to meet you brother!

Nightmare: I mean sister. So sorry Maya!
Just like that Maya reverted back to being quiet as nightmare moved closer to sitting next to her. He held her hand nervously fearing she would pull away. To his relief, Maya didn't pull away from his hand because she wanted comfort. However, Maya had time to think about her death and rebirth and the problem that comes with it. Despite Maya's bad habit of looking up random things on the internet, she is glad it worked out for her.
That means she knows the dreamtale canon story. Which she knows she is not in. The reason for this is because she is a female skeleton. Reason number two: Her and Nightmare can feel each other's emotions. Reason number three: Both seem to be able to feel positive and negative emotions without the apples and have a twin bond thing.
Meaning she is probably in a copy Au of dreamtale or in a force god of destruction universe or both. Neither answer was good for Maya. If she is in a copy Au in the canon universe Maya has to deal with an evil nightmare and plus the what ifs that will happen. If its a forced god destruction universe she has to deal with ink stupidity. If both were the case, she wouldn't even want to think about them.
As much as Maya wants to feel depressed about everything she has to focus on the now. In the future, she can suffer from depression episodes at her own pace. Right now she has to come up with a plan for Nightmare and those damned villagers. There is one thing that is always canon when it comes to the negative guardians they get abuse by the villagers or sometimes both siblings. Maya knows she is not very smart being a slow kid growing up but by Toby Fox she will try.
She may not see nightmare as a brother right now but she will soon knowing her personality when its comes to family. Maya closed her eye sockets moving closer to Nightmare laying her head on his shoulder and signing to herself. She was already stressing about the future to come. Maya had to be sure she didn't make the same mistake as the twins did. Nightmare frowned when he sees the stress on his sister's face.
Days later
Maya was just sitting by the tree of feeling less stress but she has been a lazybones for days now. She never leaves from the safety of the tree. Fearing venturing into the woods unlike her brother who was out searching for food. Could you blame her for that? Maya has been living in a house in a town no where near the woods. She lacks outdoor service skills.
It took her a few days to adjust to sleeping outside. Nightmare had to forced Maya to fall asleep because she was scared to sleep outside where wild animals might attack them. And she was not used to sleeping on the harsh cold ground. Maya would help him but like what was said before she was scared of the woods. She barely moves a few feet away from the tree of feeling sometimes or doesn't move at all.
Maya just thought she was lazing around like in her past life. Well it's not like she has anything to do around here. She could try to learn how to use her magic but didn't know how to. It is something she and nightmare need to learn. As a matter of fact, she has to ask her brother if he knows how to use magic. Soon after that thought she had nightmare walking out of the woods toward her with fruit in hand.
Nightmare: Hey Maya I'm back!
Maya: Welcome back.
Nightmare: You could sound more excited to see me.
Maya: I am excited! Can't you tell from my face?
Nightmare: Aww I'm just messing with you sister.
Maya pouted without realizing that she was making a cute face. Making nightmare think about how adorable she is even though Maya doesn't believe she is at all. Maya got up from her spot and grabbed some fruit from her brother hand eating it. Nightmare ate as well with a thoughtful look. Maya saw this and wondered what was on his mind.
Maya: What are you thinking about?
Nightmare: Just thought why don't you come into the woods with me tomorrow?
Maya: No.
Nightmare: Wow shut me down real quick. Come on sister you can't stay by mother all the time. You barely move as it is.
Maya: Nope. I'm fine even if I have nothing to do. Plus I'm not brave like you. I'm fine being a scarred cat.
Nightmare: You sure don't act like it. How about this let take baby steps. A few feet must be taken away from mother every day and it must be more than just the ones compared to the steps you take before. Deal?
Maya: Fine.
Nightmare: Good!
Nightmare walked over to give his sister a hug rubbing his cheek bone on her face. Maya felt embarrassed by her brother's actions. As the oldest twin brother, nightmare feels he needs to encourage his sister to do more. It was worrisome how barely she moves at all. He began to notice how fast she gets tired from walking sometimes and how much she rubs her legs as if she is in pain. Nightmare hopes if he encourages her to move around more Maya can get some exercise and feel less tired all the time.
