Four years and still not ready

Over the years, Maya and her brother have grown so much. Sadly for Maya she is still shorter than her brother who is three inches taller. The past four years have been a valuable learning experience for the two of them. It was discovered that Maya has very high positive magical energy, but that same power can also be harmful to her. This is one of the reasons why her body is so weak.

All that power keeps building up inside Maya and breaking her body down. If it weren't for her immortality, Maya would be dead by now. In the end, she needed to release some of that power through her arrows, but due to her weak body, she couldn't keep up. It was then that Maya and Nightmare discovered something they could both do. They can eat both positive and negative emotions.

Rather, Maya can eat negative energy and turn it into positive energy. On the other hand, Nightmare can consume positive energy and turn it into negative ones. Eventually, Maya learned how to use a check. Assist them to realize they needed to eat both positive and negative emotions. This is also one of the factors that makes Maya weak.

It has come to light that she has been starving herself unknowingly for quite some time. The only reason Nightmare wasn't affected was because he had eaten Maya's positive magic unconsciously to help her. Sadly Nightmare's magic wasn't powerful enough for Maya to feed off of but it was still better than nothing. Lately her brother started to patrol the tree of feeling and surrounded the area after what happened years ago. Maya couldn't blame her brother for worrying about her.

In spite of the fact that some of those fractures weren't her fault, she kept breaking her bones a few times. The first time it happened she had to stop sleeping on the ground. Because every morning when the siblings wake up they find buses and crack bones all over Maya's body. As a result, she had to sleep in her brother's arms from that moment on. The second time it happened was when she accidentally tipped and broke her right arm.

Maya felt the pain really bad, but she managed to control it so as not to freak out her brother. The third time Maya really didn't want to think about it. Let's just say it involved a fight between an alpha wolf and Nightmare. In that fight, Maya's lift leg was caught in the crossfire and it broke in half as a result. Nightmare could never forget the heart-pounding scream from his sister that day.

It wasn't until Nightmare finally managed to kill the wolf that he was able to mend the leg of his sister. They both didn't let each other go for a week as for Maya she became a jumpy mess at her surroundings. In the past few years, Maya has been going everywhere with her brother because she didn't like it when he was far away from her. It took a long time for Maya and Nightmare to be separate from each other without anxiety and fear. Whenever Nightmare leaves for his petrol leaving his sister alone, he always stays close by.

But for whatever reason today Nightmare felt put off and couldn't tell why. There was a feeling that something would happen soon, putting him on the edge. Not knowing what it was and unwilling to take any chances, he went back to his sister and mother. Maya saw her brother return home earlier than he normally does. It almost made Maya flich when she noticed her brother's serious face with guns ready in hand.

Maya: Brother is everything okay?

Nightmare: It's nothing. I just feel off is all.

Maya watched Nightmare stood guard in front of her and the tree of feeling stareing into the distance. She was nervous watching her brother stand guard knowing something was about to happen. As that thought passed both siblings could see a group of figures approaching them. Maya knew who this group were the villagers, it look like it was time. The group stopped in front of Nightmare as a old man move toward him.

Old man: Hello there young man. Are you the guardians of positive and negative apples?

Nightmare: I'll have to ask you to leave. NOW.

The old man turned toward Maya with greed in his eyes making her cringe in disgust. She could taste the negative emotions coming from the group, and it almost made her vomit. She may eat negative energy but she did not want theirs. Seeing the old man eyes on his sister Nightmare immediately fired his gun at the group. After hitting one in his foot, the other humans and monsters became terrified. The old man backed up fearing for his life.

Nightmare: Leave now. I will not ask again.

The entire group of villagers rushes to escape Nightmare, fearing that they will be shot at by him. Nightmare didn't put his guns down until he was sure the group were long gone. Meanwhile Maya was having a panic attack and over thinking about things. She couldn't stop shaking until her brother arms pulled her into a warm hug comforting her. Nightmare would have killed them all if it wasn't for the fact that he didn't want to mentality scar his sister even more.
