Destiny

He led me up the stairs to the club's rooftop, where it was quieter. We found a place to sit, sipping our drinks. He continued to stare at me, his gaze unwavering.
Finally, breaking the silence, he asked, "So, what's your name?"

"Destiny," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

"My name is Destiny, and you are?" I said again more firm , looking at him.

He replied, and I was shocked when he said his name was Khalil King. The name sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"Well, destiny, you're very beautiful." I froze for a moment, then managed to respond with a thank you.

He chuckled,
Even his laugh was sexy.

Curious, I asked him where he was from.

"We'll I was born and raised in New Zealand but, my back ground is actually a mix of PuertoRican and Moroccan."

I questioned whether people usually thought he was from there, to which he answered,"No, they usually think I'm from Cuba."

It made sense why he had such tanned skin. I revealed that I was from Jamaica, specifically from Kingston. I had been born there, but moved to Toronto for a while before coming to LA two years ago. Khalil then asked how I was enjoying the LA life.

I replied, "It's nice enough, but I miss home."

He commented that he felt someone like me wouldn't be in a place like this.

I was taken aback, "What is that supposed to mean?"

He explained that it seemed like I was very work-driven and didn't usually go to clubs.

I asked, "Do I come off as intimidating?"

"Yes, but I love it. I love a strong independent women that can handle me." He paused and stated with his deep rich voice "Are you that woman?"

I let out a small laugh "I can handle whoever I want the way I want to. I think you should be the nervous one, not me."

He smiled and said, "You really are different." He then proceeds to take a sip of his drink keeping his eyes on me.

"Well, what do you do?" I questioned

"How about we skip the work talk, What do you like to do in your free time?"he said changing the subject.

"Well, I like to paint and write stories." Khalil expresses his interests

"Ah, so we have a writer." I shared that I had always loved it but sadly hadn't pursued it seriously. I believed it was too late for all of that.
