IRENE P.O.V:

The day was over, and I was exhausted. I told my father I'd walk home, and I realized how foolish that was. My house is about 2 miles away from school and today was pretty hot and humid, if that makes any sense. But then again, nature rarely ever made sense.

I sighed as I checked the time. It was 3:15 in the afternoon. I should've let my dad drive me home. Just then my phone dinged as it received a message. Checking it again, I saw it was from an unknown number. Opening it up, I remembered that I gave my number to Ambrose earlier today.

Unknown: Hey!!! Irene, is it you going ahead of me? Walking??

Irene: Amos?? Are you stalking me??

I turned around, and sure enough, I saw a car about 15 meters behind me. Squinting my eyes, I saw the familiar mop of blonde hair in the back seat of the car. I waved, and I saw Ambrose put his head out and wave.

Unknown: D'you want a ride home?? I have a feelin we're going the same way..

Irene: Umm.. I don't wanna trouble you..

Unknown: It's fine!! Just a sec..

I saw as the car came forward at stopped near me. The front window rolled down and I saw a warm-faced, blonde lady smiling at me. "Hello dear, I'm Ambrose's mother. You must be Irene??" "Nice to meet you Mrs. Allard, I am Irene. Thank you for giving me a ride." "Of course, it is smoldering. Also, it's the least I could do for Amos' friend.." she answered, still smiling.

AMBROSE P.O.V:

"Mom, slow down!!" I told her. She was giving me a ride home since it was so hot. "Amos, you almost gave me a heart attack!!" she screeched back. "Haha!! Sorry!! But, um.. Up front, there's a girl walking, right?? She's uh.. My friend, Irene. Could we give her a ride home, if possible?? It is burning hot today." I asked her nervously. "Of course.. Text her or something.."

Ambrose: Hey!!! Irene, is it you going ahead of me? Walking??

Mean Girl: Amos?? Are you stalking me??

I watched as she turned around, looked and waved at our car. I stuck my head and arm out the window and waved back.

Ambrose: D'you want a ride home?? I have a feelin we're going the same way..

Mean Girl: Umm.. I don't wanna trouble you..

Ambrose: It's fine!! Just a sec..

I told my mom that she agreed to us dropping her. So, my mom drove up to her, and this is how their conversation went: "Hello dear, I'm Ambrose's mother. You must be Irene??" "Nice to meet you Mrs. Allard, I am Irene. Thank you for giving me a ride." "Of course, it is smoldering. Also, it's the least I could do for Amos' friend.."

I would be joking if I said I wasn't worried of what my mom would think of Irene. Because, well, Irene isn't the most polite of people, but she did pretty good, if I say so myself. Irene told my mother where she lived and we were driving there quietly. Until Irene broke the silence.

"Ambrose, next time you decide to text me, do not do it as if you're a stalker.." she told me sounding rather haughty. "Sorry, it was the perfect opportunity.." I told her, slightly chuckling. I heard her 'Humph!!' beside me before turning over and looking at the building. I deduced that one of the was her home. Because I'm an amazing detective. Also, because she told my mom to slow down as her house was very near.
