Freak {A Short Story} -Completed-

Part 5

June 9th
...
I don't know what just happened. I'm dead serious right now. I don't want to start crying,I really don't!
I wish I could've done something!
How could have I not noticed it before...
It's all my fault.
I could've stood up for Scarlet,I really could've.
This is what happened.

As usual everybody was making fun of Scarlet and they were calling her bad words and really mean things.

She ran over to me and handed me a note,she told me not to read it till the incident happened. I don't know what she meant but I stuffed the note in my pocket.

She went over to the picnic table and stood on it. Everybody was watching her...laughing at her. She slowly took a sharp knife out of her pocket. Then everything was dead silent. I was so scared! I thought she was gonna kill someone! She looked at me and nodded her head for approval for me to read the note.

She started crying.

Then it happened.

She slit her throat and just fainted dropping the knife.

Everyone was in utter shock and panic washed over. Kids were screaming and crying.

I took the note out of my pocket,hands shaking.

Dear Melody,
Please read this to everyone.

I would like to thank you all for making me realize that I don't deserve to live on this planet and I'm just a big pile of mass taking up space. I just want to thank Melody especially for being there for me,believing in me. But that was one against a million. I don't want to live in a horrifying world filled with sinners. I just want to be nothing. A big piece of nothing. Thank you for making that happen.

Scarlet.

I read it aloud to everyone. The teachers,the students.

They were also in shock.

I was all over the news explaining Scarlet's situation.

I moved schools to. My parents said I shouldn't have gotten involved with Scarlet and they were planning to disown me for causing such mayhem. I didn't know what that meant.

This is my last journal entry. Im sorry journal. I don't have time for you anymore. Goodbye.
