Camdyn's pov
June 6th

"I hope that wasn't animal shit." Trystan groans, practically screaming about what may be on his hands. I look down at the jeans Maisie set out for us, tears and loose threads lacing the whole bottom of the jeans. The worn out boots aren't as bad as I thought they'd be, except for that fact that I can't feel my toes in the small shoes. "You can wash your hands you pansy." Maisie and Lucille are cracking jokes and getting the work done, clearly they've been doing this every day. I chuckle and pull the baseball cap off my head to wipe the sweat, surprised when I feel enough sweat to fill a pool. "How do you two do this in such high temperatures?" I place the hat back on my head and crouch down to continue shoveling a mix of shit and hay. "You get used to it." Lucille answers as she throws a hay bale back into the barn, the same one that fell on Trystan and I earlier, Maisie following suit with the other one that fell.

"God. I know I'm an asshole..but why me?" Trystan continues his bitching, but the girls just start to ignore it. I've chosen to shut my mouth and not complain, I like being on Maisie's good side. Especially after seeing how she has man handled things ten times the size of her. She's crazily strong, she's got confidence in herself as long as she doesn't have to speak, and shit she looks good in those jeans. "Stop staring and shovel the shit. We still have to mow and weed eat around the pond, pretty boy. Let's make this quick." Pretty boy? Oh. I look down and smile and the pile of shit on my shovel, letting that compliment sink into my crowded thoughts. At least I think it was a compliment.. she constantly talks like she's angry at the world. I don't know.

I scoop up the last pile of shit and throw it over the fence, so ready to be done smelling the manure. I look up and set the shovel against the fence, silently stating that I'm done with the side I'm on. That's when I see both girls sitting on the fence behind Trystan, staring at both him and I. Maisie's eyes on me. Lucille's on Trystan.. but as quick as I see it, they both look over at each other and hop off the fence. "You got that one, Luce. We'll be by the pond." She starts walking toward me and nods her head toward the gate that Lucille is opening for us. Maisie grabs the shovel from beside me and starts to walk toward Lucille, handing her the tall piece of metal. "Have fun with dildo boy." She whispers for the three of us to hear and kisses her friend on the cheek. That was the most affectionate thing I've seen her do since we got here.

If you asked me a week ago if I'd ever touch cow shit.. I would've laughed in your face. Though, I feel like I have every reason to help around here and not complain. Considering my life was in danger where I lived, New York is a dangerous place, but it's even worse when you're a billionaire, business man. If it were up to me, I'd have shot the guy right then and there, but my dad said it would be a bad thing for business.. not my life though.. fuck that right? As I'm following behind this girl, walking to a pond bigger than all four houses out here combined.. I'm thanking my dad for the first time in my life. Suddenly feeling thankful for the chance to meet such a variety of personalities.

"Do you know how to weed eat? Or handle a mower?" Maisie leads the two of us into a shed-like building, turning in my direction immediately after I get my last step into the building. I bump into her when I take this last step, not realizing she'd stop walking so soon. "Shit." I throw my arms out to make sure she doesn't fall onto the sharp chainsaw placed unsafely on the floor behind her. My hands catch onto her waist as I pull her back up in a hurry, suddenly burning at the fingertips. Her chest is pressed against my own, her breathing scarily fast now. Her eyes are slightly widened and looking up at my own eyes, but it isn't fear in her eyes like it is in mine. It's shock and anger mixed into the blue, emerald, and honey of her eyes. "I'm sorry." I move my arms to my pockets quickly and step back slightly. "I didn't mean to." I step back one more so I'm out of the shed completely.
