Surprise

Five years later

Just thinking back to Lilly and Pedri's wedding makes my heart swell with happiness. It was the most beautiful day, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Seeing my best friend walk down the aisle, glowing with joy, ready to start a new chapter of her life with the love of her life, was something I would cherish forever. The way Pedri looked at her, the way they whispered to each other during the ceremony as if no one else in the world existed, made me realize just how magical love truly is. I couldn't help but imagine my own future, picturing myself in a big white dress, walking toward Pablo, ready to say yes to forever. The thought alone made me smile.

Lilly and Pedri were currently off enjoying their honeymoon in the Maldives, and I couldn't wait to hear every single detail when she got back. I already knew she would have endless stories to tell, about the sunsets, the crystal-clear waters, and of course, how perfect everything felt. But for now, my focus was on tonight, on my own little tradition with Pablo.

For the past few years, we had made it a routine to spend Friday evenings at the beach, watching the sunset and having a small picnic together. It was our way of unwinding after a long week, of taking a moment to pause and just be with each other. No distractions, no stress, just us. And I loved it more than anything. It was the perfect way to end the week and an even better way to step into the weekend.

Lately, life has been a whirlwind. There had been so many exciting opportunities coming my way, new scripts, incredible roles being offered, and big decisions to be made. At the same time, Pablo had been training intensely, preparing for Barcelona's upcoming tour in America. Even with our busy schedules, we always found time for each other, and I appreciated that more than anything.

Tonight was no exception. I slipped into a pair of shorts, a light floral shirt, and my favorite white Jordans. Knowing how unpredictable the weather could be at night, I packed a jacket, even though I doubted I'd need it. The blanket was already in the car, ready for when we lay under the stars.

"Mi amor, are you ready?" Pablo's voice called from downstairs, pulling me from my thoughts.

"Yes, yes, coming!" I called back, grabbing my bag and making my way downstairs. But the moment he saw me, something strange happened. He rushed outside so fast, barely giving me a chance to say anything.

I frowned slightly, watching him disappear through the door. That was... odd. But I brushed it off, assuming he was just eager to get everything set up. I quickly grabbed my phone from the kitchen counter and followed him outside, sliding into the passenger seat of the car.

As we pulled out of the driveway, I turned to look at him, expecting his usual excitement, but he was acting strange. He kept his eyes on the road, avoiding my gaze, his jaw clenched as if he was deep in thought. My heart sank slightly. Was something wrong? Had something happened?

I decided not to push him just yet. Instead, I plugged in my phone and played our playlist, letting the familiar songs fill the space between us. I turned my attention to the window, watching as the city faded into the background, replaced by the open road leading to the beach.

Then, out of nowhere, I felt his hand rest gently on my thigh, his thumb moving in slow, soothing circles. A small, involuntary smile formed on my lips. Whatever was on his mind, he wasn't shutting me out completely. His touch was reassuring, grounding me in the moment.
