"Pablo, can you please make sure Nico is wearing something nice? I need to dress Aurora," I called out, adjusting my earrings as I glanced at my reflection in the mirror. The soft morning light streamed in through the sheer curtains, casting a golden glow over our bedroom. My hair was loosely curled, framing my face as I finished applying a light layer of makeup.
Pablo emerged from the adjoining bathroom, his sleeves rolled up and his damp hair slightly tousled. He looked effortlessly handsome, even after all these years. Pablo had always been effortlessly stylish, and today was no exception. His crisp white polo shirt, with only the first two buttons undone, gave him a relaxed yet polished look. Paired with blue cargo shorts and his gray Jordans, he looked every bit the man who could still turn heads, even after all these years. Sometimes, I wondered if he even realized how easily he could command attention.
His eyes met mine through the mirror, and he smirked before walking over to the bed, where Aurora was lying on her back, giggling at the ceiling fan. "Sure, amor," he murmured, picking up our one-year-old daughter and tickling her tiny belly, making her shriek with laughter. His deep chuckle filled the room, a sound I would never grow tired of. He pressed a quick kiss to my lips before making his way to Nico's room, and disappearing down the hall.
I turned my attention back to Aurora, who was reaching for the hem of my dress with her chubby fingers. "Don't you look pretty?" I cooed, running my fingers through her soft curls before fastening a delicate yellow bow in her hair that matched her sunflower-patterned dress. Her tiny yellow shoes completed the look, making her look like the sweetest little angel. Aurora giggled, squirming slightly as I adjusted her dress. "Mama!" she squealed, her voice high and full of delight.
I pressed a kiss to her cheek before shifting her onto my hip. "You're too cute for your own good," I teased, making her giggle even more.
With one last glance at my reflection, I smoothed out the fabric of my blue sundress, adjusting the delicate straps on my shoulders before slipping on my wedge sandals. I let out a small breath, smiling to myself. This was my life now, a life filled with love, laughter, and the sweetest chaos.
Balancing Aurora on my hip, I walked towards Nico's room, curious to see if Pablo had managed to dress him without turning it into a full-blown wrestling match.
As I walked down the hall towards our son's room, I could already hear loud giggles and the unmistakable clashing of plastic against plastic. A small smile tugged at my lips. Of course, they were play-fighting again.
Pushing open the door, I found exactly what I had expected, two boys, one a full-grown man and the other his tiny replica, engaged in an intense sword fight. Pablo, holding a blue plastic sword, was dramatically dodging Nico's rapid strikes, while our three-year-old swung his red sword with all the enthusiasm his little arms could muster.
"You're going down, Papá!" Nico declared, his fluffy hair bouncing with every move.
"Oh yeah?" Pablo challenged, spinning his sword before tapping Nico lightly on the shoulder. "That's one point for me!"
I shook my head in amusement before noticing something that immediately made me sigh. Nico's sneakers were untied, the laces dragging dangerously close to his feet. Like father, like son.
