Chapter 5: Tom Nook's Past

Ai and Rosie walk out of the Able Sisters store and then immediately both fall into a pitfall hole.
"Ahh, we're stuck!" screamed Ai.
"Who did this?!" said Rosie.
Yú and Alfonso then come up out of nowhere to the girls.
"We planted them" said Yú.
"Ya, and we're not letting you out until you invite us to the city" said Alfonso.
"Urgh, you two are so mean!" said Rosie grumpily.
"Yeah, we can get out on our own" said Ai.
Ai and Rosie then struggle to get out of the hole.
"Urgh ok, you can come" said Ai in defeat.
The boys then help the girls out of the hole and Ai gives them a ticket each.
"Aw yeah!" said Yú and Alfonso. "We're going to the city! We're going to the city! Aw yeah!"
"Well, now you have two tickets left" said Rosie.
"Yeah, wonder who I'm gonna give them to" said Ai.
Suddenly, Whitney walks over to the girls.
"Hello girls" said Whitney. "I'm free this evening. So do you want to go the Roost with me? K.K. Slider is playing tonight!"
"Ok!" said the two girls.
Ai, Rosie and Whitney then walk up to the museum. Rosie and Whitney go ahead into the basement while Blathers stops Ai in her place.
"My my!" said Blathers. "You girls are happy!"
"Yeah!" said Ai. "Me, Rosie and some others are going to the city next Saturday!"
"Ah the city!" said Blathers in delight. "You know I grew up there! It's a wonderful place most people would say, well, except for Tom Nook.
"Tom Nook?" said Ai in confusion.
"Yes, Tom had dreams of owning a shop so big it could stock anything!" said Blathers. "And to make those dreams come true, he had to move to the city. And as my parents would tell me, city life is hard. The roads were noisy, the pay was high and there are always people trying to swindle you!
"Wow" said Ai. "From how Margie described it, the city didn't seem too bad."
"Yes, Tom Nook tried to act like city life was all good when writing letters back home" said Blathers.
"Eventually, something so bad happened that Tom Nook has to go back to the country and forget his dreams" said Blathers. "Nobody knows what exactly happened, but there are rumors that it involved a fox, and a lot of money."
"Oh no, I kinda feel bad" said Ai.
"Yeah I know" said Blathers. "But don't worry. I bet Margie's city life is nothing like that."
"Ai! Hurry up!" said Rosie from below.
"Oh coming!" said Ai.
Ai then walks down the stairs, thinking about what Blathers said.
"It's ok" thought Ai. "Margie's city life is nothing like Tom Nook's... but what if it is?"
