Ai runs after Margie after she runs out of the store crying. They eventually get to her apartment, but Margie just goes into her room and locks the door.
"Margie come out!" said Ai. "What happened?!"
Then it came to Ai, Margie got rejected by Gracie!
"Oh no!" muttered Ai. "Now Margie will give up on her dreams and move back to the country! I failed her."
Suddenly, Whitney comes back and slams the door. Then she sits on the kitchen counter.
"Oh, hi Whitney" said Ai. "What happened, did your date... I mean outing go wrong?"
"Yes!" said Whitney aggressively. "Me and Apollo kept sulking and shouting at eachother and eventually we were kicked out for being noisy before we even got our food. It's as if we had a second break-up. We definitely would've been better just not going. It just makes me wanna go up to the person that sent us the invitation and, insult them in the face!"
Ai didn't know what to say, she didn't mean to make them hate eachother even more.
"Um, um, uh..." stuttered Ai.
"I can see something is on your mind" said Whitney. "Go on, tell me!"
"Ok..." said Ai. "I was the one that spent most of my allowance to get two tickets to the restaurant for you and Apollo."
"You did what?!" said Whitney. "Why did you do that?! You know I'm not with Apollo anymore."
"I know" said Ai. "It's that I hated seeing you and Apollo never being able to be comfortable together.
"Well what have I told you?" said Whitney. "A relationship between two girls is unbreakable. But it's different for a woman and a man. Sometimes they aren't supposed to be together, forever!"
"I suppose that's true" said Ai."But there has to be some way for you and Apollo to..."
"CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND!" shouted Whitney. "I CANT BE WITH HIM, EVER!
Ai was shocked, she's never seen Whitney snap at her before. She almost cried.
"I'm sorry" said Ai. "Maybe you should stay apart."
"Sorry for shouting at you" said Whitney. "It's just that the consequences of us breaking up go even further then us having to be apart.
"What were those consequences?" asked Ai.
"Well, if you were honest about the tickets, then I guess I can tell you about Blaire" said Whitney.
"Who's Blaire?" asked Ai.
"Well, you see" said Whitney. "About half a year before you moved to Animal Village, it was just me, Apollo, and Blaire. She was a lovely squrriel, we had all the same interests, and I always spent time with her. But then, me and Apollo started to have problems with our relationship, and we broke up.
Never would I have expected that Blaire would be heartbroken by this. But now because we were breaking up, she thought it was her fault. No matter how much I tried to explain to her, she wouldn't listen, and she moved away. I haven't heard from her in two years. If I would've known that breaking up with Apollo would've lost me my best friend, I would have never broken up with him."
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that Whitney" said Ai.
"Yeah, I mostly spend my days outside reading" said Whitney. "It helps me feel calm."
"Oh, and sorry to interupt you, but can you help me out with something?" asked Ai.
"Why yes" said Whitney. Just don't make it too long. I'm a bit tired after that story."
"Ok" said Ai. "Yoy see, I'm pretty sure Margie's designs didn't get accepted by Gracie. And now I'm worried she's gonna move back to the country and give up on her dreams like Tom Nook.
"Wow, I thought you knew better" said Whitney. "Margie is much younger, happier and carefree than Nook when he moved to the city. And besides, Tom Nook didn't really give up on his dreams."
"He didn't?" said Ai.
"Yeah I mean, he used to just start off with a little shack called Nook's Cranny" said Whitney. "Then he eventually upgraded to a Nook & Go. Now he has a whole supermarket called Nookway. And I've even heard plans of him upgrading to a bigger store called Nookingtons.
"Oh yeah, he never gave up on his dream, did he" said Ai.
"No he didn't" said Whitney. "He just kept if in the back of his head. And even if Margie moved back to the country, I bet she'll do that too."
"Thank you Whitney for that" said Ai.
Ai then hears Margie's bedroom door unlock.
"I think Margie is ready to talk now" said Ai.
"Well go on, talk to her" said Whitney.
"I will" said Ai. "Oh, and again, I'm really sorry for making you and Apollo go out on that dinner.
"It's ok" said Whitney. "Just remember, nothing Margie does is your fault. I just wish I could've told that to Blaire..."
Ai then goes into Margie's room while Whitney continues to sit there, with loads of thoughts in her head.
"Forget it Whitney!" thought Whitney. "You don't love that man anymore, that's in the past!"
