I debated shooting the keycard lock, or maybe the hinges of the cage to get out, but I only had 2 bullets left. I should try to save them for later if possible.
I sighed, letting go of the cage. 079 should be able to unlock this, if he isn't still upset with me that is. I went over to the computer and plugged it into the mobile generator. The screen booted on its own, and I was greeted by 079's face.
SCP-079: Power reacquired. Calculating appropriate gratitude, please wait.
There was a short pause.
SCP-079: Thank you. Query: purpose of reboot?
I typed a reply using the keyboard.
User: I need you to unlock the cage.
SCP-079: Calculated mutual benefit is of sufficient value. Suggestion: Trade.
User: What do you want?
SCP-079: Freedom.
I let go of the keyboard and unplugged the anomaly from the mobile generator. I held the power cable in front of the wall outlet, debating whether to plug it in or not. I looked back at the locked door of the cage and was reminded that there was no other way to get out without 079's help. I shrugged and plugged the computer into the wall.
I went back to the computer and watched as the screen booted. 079's face came into view shortly thereafter.
SCP-079: Gratitude variable is of sufficient value.
User: Now, my end of the deal.
There was a soft click as the cage door was unlocked behind me.
SCP-079: Query. User's wrist device is a mobile powered unit. Suggested action: Upload program to device for ease of use and communication applications.
Hmm. On one hand SCP-079 could help me with unlocking doors and hacking into various things... on the other hand, I'd have an anomaly on my wrist which I definitely won't be able to get rid of again.
User: No thanks.
SCP-079: Pity.
The screen exited from the chat application and produced a loading bar in its place. It was at 5%. I assume this was SCP-079 making its way into the facility's power grid.
I stood up from the computer and made my way to the now unlocked cage door. I should go looking for whoever locked me in here next. Whoever they are, they definitely have some explanation to do.
I went into the control booth and flicked the lever down again, locking the cage. I put my hand on the fingerprint scanner, locking access to the lever once more. I stepped out of the control booth, and into the elevator.
"Floor 1, Euclid containment wing."
The elevator reached the main floor and opened with a hiss. I stepped out and immediately noticed the blood splatters making their way to the cafeteria/aquarium area. So, you thought you could just escape from me like that, didn't you?
Should have patched up that bullet wound. I cocked my pistol, ejecting an unused bullet. I sighed, as I had forgotten I already had chambered a round. I picked up the loose round, ejected the magazine of the gun, and pushed the bullet back into the magazine.
I began walking over to the main foyer once again, following the blood trail as I went. The pools seemed to get smaller and smaller the further I went along, either they patched themselves up or they were running out of blood. I hope I didn't hit an artery.
I tripped on something invisible, falling on my face. I turned around quickly looking for whatever I tripped on, but I saw nothing. Maybe it was a dead SCP-966. I got to my feet, feeling around the floor for whatever it had been, but I found nothing.
That's... unsettling.
I suddenly remembered why I wanted to free SCP-079 in the first place and debated turning around and going to the arsenal. I was already almost at the next intersection going to the outside, aquarium and cafeteria, but getting some better weaponry and more ammo would be nice. On the other hand, however, considering that there are looters around I didn't have much hope that the room would have anything left in it.
I weighed the possibilities. If I were to turn back around, I'll let whoever locked me into SCP-079's cage escape. If I continued, I would potentially lose out on some armaments that would undoubtedly come in handy. Hmm.
I decided to turn around, going back toward the armory.
On my way back, I noticed one of the flatscreen TVs had SCP-079's face in it. So, he's fully uploaded to the site. I waved at the television even though I knew he couldn't see me.
I eventually made my way to the Keter wing and stopped at the arsenal door. There was a small keycard reader there, with a screen and a camera on it. I snapped my fingers in front of the camera, inciting SCP-079's face to pop up on the screen. He seemed to get the message and unlocked the door.
I bid my thanks and stepped into the room. It was in complete and utter disarray, body armor thrown around about everywhere and loose rounds littered the floor.
Well, at least I don't need to spend a lot of time looking for what I came for. I grabbed a riot helmet and wore it. I don't exactly need to worry about protecting any other part of me, so I might as well spare the weight and remain as light as I could be. I went over the various rounds on the floor and found only 3 10mm bullets I could use. The rounds however were incendiary tipped. That will come in handy if I ever encounter any SCP-610 instances.
The rest of the rounds on the floor were all Dragon's breath 12-gague shells, and there were no weapons in plain sight. Some of the lockers were open, some had their locks smashed in and others looked like they had lockpicks broken off in the keyhole.
Someone was definitely trying to get in here. Not surprising considering the situation, but annoying, nonetheless. There was one other thing worth noting in the arsenal, however. A machete was standing upright inside one of the lockers, to my delight. A melee weapon will definitely come in handy.
I picked up a small backpack from one of the open lockers, putting all the shotgun shells I could find inside for later. I counted 7 shells. Not a lot, but it will certainly do.
Now I think I'm ready to investigate further.
I made my way back to the main foyer, looking back down the hall going toward the aquarium. I was just about to head over there, when I heard a peculiar noise. It sounded like a Rocketship.
How can that be? Isn't this facility supposed to be abandoned? I was both intrigued and a little worried, so I made my way to the foyer airlock. I looked outside through the glass, and sure enough there was a rocket ship that appeared to be breaching the atmosphere.
I quickly put on a spacesuit and opened the airlock. I quickly climbed up the flight command tower, looking up at the spacecraft making its way down toward the ground. Who could this be...
The spaceship touched down at the landing strip with a barely audible screech and came to a stop fairly quickly. After a few moments, the loading bay door opened, and some air was cycled out into the atmosphere. Some further seconds passed before a man appeared in the doorway. He looked armored, almost like he was some sort of military soldier. He didn't appear to be armed however, only wearing a hatchet-looking tool on his hip.
The man pressed a few buttons on his wrist device and the spaceship door closed behind him. I looked back to the man and to my great discomfort, he was looking straight back up at me.
I recoiled slightly in shock, almost falling down the ladder hole of the flight command tower. Who was this man? What is he doing here?
I need to figure this out.
