The MTF encampment would continue to survive, hell, some might even call it thriving. With me there as their healer/first line of defense, things seemed like they would continue to work for the operatives even in the wake of the site's destruction.
I spent most of my days helping around the site with chores and whatever else needed to be done. If soldiers were gravely hurt, I'd use my powers to heal them and if anyone were unfortunate enough to die, I'd save those I could. Sadly, we eventually found out that I can't bring people back when they have been dead for more than a day.
We found Reptile's corpse beside 079's body. The robot was seemingly shut off, and Reptile seemed to have been killed by a SCP-3199 anomaly. I looked everywhere for his soul... but it was to no avail. I couldn't bring him back.
So, I swore to never let that happen again. Every survivor we knew of got assigned heart rate monitors and I got special access to all of them. If anyone were ever in danger, I could immediately know and get there as fast as possible.
Aside from me, though? Well, Alex eventually befriended the 939 I was working alongside her to get under control. She named him Strawberry which I found both adorable and funny. The two would spend most of their days together, and you could rarely see either separated from the other.
Before she fully trusted Strawberry however, she went on a mission to the fusion reactor of the main facility. She succeeded in her mission, but it came at a grave price. Her leg was torn off while she was desperately trying to escape from the clutches of an infected SCP-610. We all told her not to do the mission alone, but being as stubborn as she is she refused.
Avery was promptly promoted to head of MTF when Alex lost her leg. The MTF took some time to adjust to the new leadership but eventually things were set afloat once more. Avery did about as well a job leading the encampment as Alex had done, albeit more softly, perhaps.
And, well, that leaves us with now.
Help never arrived at site-113. We might have been able to grow our own food, we had power and everything else one could dream of... but one thing we couldn't overcome was aging.
The years went by, falling like leaves off a tree. One after another my colleagues, my friends, my family... We eventually had our first death. The doctor was the first to succumb to his age, and he had told me to leave his body alone. I watched as his soul slowly faded away while he was lying on the morgue slab, until it disappeared entirely.
You'd think we might mourn his loss and while there was sadness involved in the event, we chose to instead celebrate the life he had lived.
And we did the same for everyone else.
Alex, Avery, Jadeitor. All of them faded away into their infinite slumber.
Eventually there was no-one left except me and the other SCPs.
I'd regularly pay the graves of my former friends a visit. My face was not that of sadness, however. I smiled, reminiscing on everything we did together.
Today was one of my monthly visits. I walked beside the graves, planting one flower at each of the tombstones. SCP-049 was right with me as we do practically everything together nowadays. Us two were the only truly intelligent life on this barren planet after all and complete isolation would have driven both me and him completely mad.
SCP-049 was taking extra care of the flower he planted at Jade's grave. He did so with a smile, however, and I returned his happiness with my own.
"They are in a better place now."
I looked up at the star-filled sky with glee. "I'd like to believe they are."
049 moved a little closer to me, wrapping his ungloved hand around my shoulder. "Come, we have dinner to prepare. The dogs must be starving."
I dropped my gaze back toward the ground, locking eyes with the doctor. "Yeah, you're right."
I looked down at Alex's grave one last time, before planting her flower. The flower stood proud, resembling the long-lost yet still brave heart of the fallen soldier beneath it.
I took one last look at the flower before walking away with 049, back into the MTF building.
"We'll be back in a month's time. Don't worry. They are not going anywhere."
