My brain is slowly starting to turn into mush and all the tiny letters and numbers in front of me are practically dancing at this point.

A colleague of mine just dropped by my office with a stack of paperwork. He asked me if I could help him do it, and of course, I couldn't say no as the people pleaser that I am. It was already around 10 pm, and the fucker had dropped the stack and simply turned around, leaving me alone in our entire facility section.

I sigh in frustration before dropping my pen, a few splatters of ink dropping on the papers because of it. My back presses against my chair as I crack my back, hoping it'll take some tension off of it.

As I look around my office, I realize how bored I am of it at this point. I might as well go work in the atrium. Maybe that'll help me feel like I'm not stuck here at this hour.

The stack of papers feels heavy in my arms as I get out of my office. The door shuts behind me and the lights switch off as I lock it. My pace is slow as I make my way through the incredibly silent hallway.

My brain is somewhere else at this point and I'm clearly losing all my focus. Though I know I can't just go home. Ghost will kill me if I don't finish these. He'll never take a "but," or shoving the blame on someone else.

I open the door to the stairwell, but it takes me a moment to register that I've not actually opened the door to the stairwell.

"Oh, hey kid. Need something?" Keegan's cool voice penetrates my brain.

Shit.

"-Oh," I mumble. "No, sir. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you."

He hums in response. "That's okay. What's all that?" he asks, tipping his chin up to motion for the stack of papers in my arms. I can tell by the slight squinting of his eyes that his brows are furrowed.

"It's nothing.. Just paperwork. I'm a bit overwhelmed."

"At this hour?" He chuckles once.

"You know it.." I force a smile. "I was gonna go down to the atrium and do it there. I'm kind of getting sick of my office."

He nods slowly, the motion offering me a feeling of his understanding. "Do you need some help with it?"

"Oh, uhh," I hesitate. "Well... If you're bored?" I chuckle, not actually expecting him to go through with it. "I'm quite literally drowning in this."

He tilts his head slightly before tapping his hand flat on his desk. "Come. Sit here. I'll help you a bit."

I sigh, relieved by his response before walking over to his desk. I drop the paper stack on top of the frosted glass table top before sitting down directly in front of him.

"What are these for..?" He asks as he takes the top paper off of the stack.

"Not entirely sure. Just know that these three document numbers should be checked, and... then they should be signed here," I say, pointing to the bottom of the page.

He nods slowly. "Alright. Well, let's get done with this quickly then."

"Thank you, sir. I need to get these done before I can get home. Ghost might kill me if I don't bring him these first thing tomorrow morning," I sigh once again as I feel another yawn itching my jaw. "What are you still doing here, by the way?"
