It had been a week since I left for volleyball camp, and I was coming back today.

I impatiently tapped my foot on the dirty as I waited for my brother to pull up. Instead of my brother, it was my sister-in-law,Maria.

I opened the back door and placed my things there. Then I got into the passenger seat and pulled my seat belt on. "Why are you picking me up instead of Diego?" I asked as she drives away."He went to jail for being accused of killing some Prophet. " she shook her head.

"What?" My eyebrows knitted together "yeah I've been trying to get him out, but it's hard, you know, being pregnant and having barely any money, " she shook her head.

Oh yeah, um, so I'm going to be a tìa. Diego got her pregnant about 2 months ago after they celebrated their 2nd year anniversary of being together, and Ruby and I walked in on them, and now he can't look at either of them the same.

After a silent drive we pulled up at my house "I got to go over to my sister's house I'll be back in a few hours" she said pressing a kiss on my head "okay" I got out and grabbed my things.

I saw ruby outside his house I smiled and quickly ran inside putting my things away then ran back outside and jumping over the fence and bringing ruby into an embrace "shit woman you can't do that" he hugged me back.

After we pulled away, I smiled, "Notice anything different?" I asked as jamal walked out with chips."You got boobs, " they said in sync. I covered my chest. "No." I took the chips away from jamal.

"I'm kidding princesa, you got your braces off" ruby reassured me I sigh and blushed slightly "yes thank you" I smile as Jamal just laughs "where's Cesar he wasn't home when I stopped by" I put a chip in my mouth "um I don't know?"

I finished the chips and gave the empty bag back to jamal. We all got on our bikes and rode over to Cesar's house. I drip my bike on the grass and cover my chest again as I see a bunch of santos look me up and down.

I felt a cloth around my shoulder and chest. I looked down to see Ruby's jacket. I smiled. "Where's Cesar?" I asked, putting the hoodie around me more, "he's in the back. " One of them said we walked into the back to see Cesar.

"Hey putà" I smiled, and he turned around. "Hey val." I gave him a hug. "How was camp?" he asks, pulling away "boring" I groaned, "I bet you did good. You're the best at volleyball. " I smiled and slightly pushed him "thanks"

We talked for a bit till it started to get late, and jamal already went home "hey you guys should head out," Cesar points out damn it's already almost 9 "okay, you really ruby" I stood up "yeah" he stood up as well we said goodbye and walked back to our houses.

~near the end of summer~

"You puta madre! How could you say something like that! She's not even here to defend herself. I swear I'm goin-" I ran at Cesar but got stopped my ruby grabbing my arm. I can't believe that Cesar said that he said.

Soo.... a little Chisme Cesar said that monse let him 'smashed, really hard' before she left for writing camp and something about claiming her to 'protect her'

"Val, it's not worth it," Ruby spoke in that calm, quiet voice, making me calm down a tiny bit. I stared at Cesar, my childhood best friend, "you disgusted me." My eyes moved to Oscar. "It's your fault. It- it's your fault you got Cesar into this an- and got my brother into prison for something he didn't fucking do!" I yelled feeling tears form in my eyes.
