Dono—honorific meaning “lord” or “master,” although it does not equate status.

Hakama—loose trousers with many pleats

Haori—hip or thigh-length jacket with wide sleeves worn over a kimono

Izakaya—a tavern of sorts that serves sake

Jigoku—hell

Kimono—a loose, wide-sleeved robe fastened at the waist with a sash

Kitsune—a devious, shapeshifting fox spirit

Kosode—a short-sleeved version of a kimono with looser proportions

Kun—semi-formal honorific used for young men and boys familiar to or younger than themselves

Miko—a shrine maiden

Okaa-sanMother  

Otou-sama—Father  

Sama—honorific used for those deserving the most respect for the status or higher rank.

San—honorific equivalent to “Miss” or “Mister.”  

Seppuku—the ritual suicide of a samurai.

Shogi—a strategy board game for two

Yokai—spirits and magical creatures with inhuman and supernatural abilities
