A/N
Well, it's been a long time since The farm was purged. It was one of my favourites of mine, so here is a little push for myself to maybe, rewrite it in its entirety.

Sitting on the stairs leading up to his family's apartment, Sasuke held the cold can of coke against his forehead. It was humid and hot and hard to breathe as he waited for his father to finally come down and open the car with the ever so lovely air conditioning so the young Uchiha didn't have to suffer through the summer weather. Under different circumstances, he would have been doing anything else, but now he had no choice. Pretty much, as he would put it, he was being abandoned by his parents for two months. Just because he failed one class no less, they think they can just go on a vacation without him. It's unfair.

Despite being upset at Fugaku, he still felt relieved when the older man finally appeared in his field of vision. Immediately, he jumped to his feet and entered the car once it was unlocked. The air conditioning made him feel a bit better. However, he was still as pissed as ever. Having to spend his summer break with the one and only brother that had left him years ago and then never bothered to even pick up the damn phone and call? Ridiculous.

The car ride was long, and Sasuke fell asleep during it, ever so slightly still feeling the hangover from last night's activities with his mates. Now, he found himself in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no cell reception. He thought this must have been just a joke Fugaku was pulling to teach him a lesson, but then, he saw the one person he thought he'd never see again. Walking through the open door of the house that was most definitely older than all three of them combined was Itachi, wiping droplets of sweat from his temples.

Sasuke got out of the car and watched as Fugaku pulled his suitcase out of the trunk.

"Now, you message me if anything goes wrong. Make sure you do your extra summer school work. Otherwise, I might just leave you here forever." He was half joking, but Sasuke knew that it wasn't completely out of the question. Itachi stood nearby, his face unchanging. As if he didn't even register the presence of the family he hasn't seen in over a decade, but neither Fugaku or Sasuke said anything to him, either. Sasuke stole more than a couple of glances his brother's way, but he didn't find the words to say.

For about two years after Itachi left on a day that seemed as ordinary as any other to Sasuke, the younger brother swore he would curse and beat Itachi up for not explaining or even saying goodbye. Now that they finally were so close, he had nothing. There was no rage anymore, just... an unsettling indifference towards the one he once considered his best friend, his comfort person.

"I will see you in two months." Fugaku announced,  patting Sasuke on the shoulder before he quickly turned on his heel and got into his car, driving off with his arm sticking out of the driver's window. Sasuke sighed, looking at his suitcase. It felt ridiculous to him, to expect that all he could need for a couple of months could ever fit in there, but his mother reassured him that it would.

Itachi watched his younger brother with the same expression still, his eyes showing no emotion whatsoever, saying nothing.  He turned around on his heel and walked inside the house, that looked like a prison to Sasuke.

Sighing, he wiped some sweat off his temple with the back of his hand and plopped himself down on his suitcase, in the shade of the house. His phone was still fully charged, but the signal seemed to be nonexistent there. Popping his earbuds in, he scrolled through his songs, before he decided that none of them were to his liking at the moment and he just sat there listening to nothing, looking around at the vast fields around him.

It was only when a slight tap on his shoulder startled him that he finally realised that this is his reality now. Annoyed, he looked up at whoever was disturbing him as he was losing himself in his thoughts. It was someone he didn't know, nor did he want to.

"You must be Itachi's little brother, Sasuke, right?" The question, though harmless, annoyed him even more. He didn't want to be associated with Itachi in any shape or form. Not anymore, anyway.

"What's it to you?" He rolled his eyes and faced away from the intruder of his quiet peace. There was a chuckle he could barely hear because of his earbuds still in his ears.

"Fair enough. Why don't I show you to your room? At least you can sulk where nobody will have to look at it."

Sasuke sighed, but in the hopes of any kind of AC, he got up and pulled up the handle of his suitcase. He followed the white haired man inside the house and up the stairs, observing the hallways, the pictures and the cracked window that a very slight breeze was coming in through. There were many doors on the top floor, and they all looked exactly the same.

"This will be your new home," the man said with a grin as he opened one of the doors, the last one, the one furthest from the others. "We do like to keep things tidy here, so please try to keep it the same way. The bathroom is downstairs, or anywhere outside if it's number one." He continued, all while Sasuke looked on with disgust on the single bed with a mattress that looked like it's seen many bodies and definitely better days. "The name's Hidan, by the way. Dinner will be at six. Feel free to join us downstairs."

With that, Hidan left him alone to fend for himself. Sasuke pulled his suitcase inside and left it next to the bed. There was no AC, but there was a small fan on the bedside table. There were only two settings on it, and he chose the second, sitting on the small bed with his face close to the fan. It was blowing warm air from the room right back at him, but it was better than nothing. His mind wandered back to the man, was his hair natural, or does he dye it, out here, in the middle of nowhere? What would be the point?

He groaned and laid down, his legs still on the carpeted floor. He hates carpets. He hates this house, this farm, his brother and most of all, his parents, for leaving him here. It feels like the entire world is against him and there is nothing he can do about it. Feeling helpless, he closed his eyes and without really meaning to, he slipped away into a dreamless sleep.
