Meredith was sleeping peacefully in her  bed until something, or should she say someone, came to tear the blankets off her small body. She groaned as she saw that it was still dark outside.

"Rise and shine" A familiar voice said in a cheerful tone. Mer opened her eyes just to see Addison standing there smiling at her. The blonde looked at her clock: it wasn't even 5:00am. She proceeded to close her eyes ."Nah im good thanks" she said, clutching to her blanket.

The redhead once again ripped the comforter off her body and grabbed her hands, pulling her up.

"Alright I'm up" the blonde said with a laugh. Addison chuckled as well before saying" You don't need to get dressed, I got your coffee and breakfast ready. "

The look of confusion on Mer's face made Addison laugh"don't worry darling, you'll know soon enough"

The blonde felt butterflies. Darling was a nickname Addison picked out for her and she loved it. Since Mer had been released from the hospital a few weeks ago, they had been taking time off. Addie was pretty much living at the blonde's house,  just to make sure things went smoothly. Mer had been prescribed some anti-depressants and she had a new therapist. Not that she really wanted one, but it was mandatory.

The medication was starting to take its effect but it wasn't really what made Meredith happier. All the pills did was removed the intrusive and harmful thoughts from her brain and allowed her to function minimally. Daily functions such as getting out of bed was still difficult at times. But having Addison to wake up to, that was great motivation.

Meredith made her way to the kitchen only to realize Addison wasn't there. She looked in the living room and the woman wasn't there either. The intern was confused. She checked her backyard and she found Addison sitting on the swing.

"What are we doing back here?" The younger woman asked clueless.

"We are going to have breakfast and watch the sun rise. Its always been a thing I've loved to do." It was going to be a little while, given that it was still rather dark out. The woman shrugged and took a seat next to Addie. Meredith ate her breakfast with appetite. Turns out Addison was a great cook, much better then Meredith will ever be.

The two women talked for a while about all and nothing. Then the sun started to rise. At first Meredith didn't think much of it but the more the sun rose, the more beautiful it became. The blonde had never really experienced a sunrise and it became mesmerizing to her. Addison then pulled her out of her thoughts.

" I think sunrises have always had this deeper meaning. It doesn't matter that it rained the day before. The sun is still going to rise the next day, even when it's hidden by the clouds. Its like turning over a new leaf, new horizons. It doesn't matter what mistakes were made yesterday, today is a new day with new chances and opportunities. And a new sunrise every morning is a symbol of that. That's just my take on it"

The blonde nodded, really thinking about what was said. Then she felt hopeful for the first time in a long time. She felt a certain serenity within herself, one she had been craving for ages. She wasn't magically healed by any means. But this feeling, even if just for a little while, was a win.

She layed her head on Addison's shoulder. The redhead was surprised at first but then smiled and placed her arm around Meredith. She realized then that the blonde was shivering. Wordlessly, she grabbed the blanket that was next to her and wrapped it on the blonde's shoulders.

"Thank you Addison" Meredith said." And not just for the blanket but for making me experience this. For everything you've done for me since I've known you." Addie then looked over at Mer and smiled softly.
