This book is dedicated to the outcast,  to the survivor,  to those society silences and ignores to the best of its ability.  This book is written for every person who grew up looking at the crows, pigeons,  and dandelions,  and found the beauty within them despite everyone telling them they were weird, that those things were bad.  This is for those who had people tell them that their own experience was invalid, that they should just feel better and move on from all the injustices. This world has put so much on us from the day we were born,  and it's never been easy for us. And things never will be easy. But that doesn't mean it isn't worth fighting.  Every day,  get back up.  Take that next step.  Every little step is worth it,  even if it feels like you slide backwards sometimes.  I think of the legend of sysiphus, to how the traditional reading is a tale of warning,  a reminder to keep your head down,  stay in the lines, or you'll be struck down. Or icarus, who was struck down for his delight in his experiences. But what they don't see is the power in these stories.  Sysiphus got back up,  kept pushing that Boulder instead of letting it crush him,  found the joy in the struggle.  And icarus knew the risks of what he did,  but nonetheless lived his life to the fullest,  knowing it was better to die in freedom and joy than to let himself be kept imprisoned,  told to keep to his lot. We must soar, we must fight,  we must claw every last bit of joy and peace we can find from this life.  This is a truly wonderful life,  don't forget that.  Keep your head up,  keep fighting.  You're never alone.
