"Hi, Asher." I waltzed into the kitchen. Asher smiled wide on seeing me, which made me happy, as always.

It calmed me in ways I couldn't explain. All I knew was he was my safe place, my source of comfort.

"Guess someone had a lot of fun at school," he said, opening his arms for a hug. I wrapped my arms around his waist and looked up, resting my chin on his chest.

"Someone missed you." I pouted, making him chuckle and lean down to place a kiss on my head.

"I missed someone too." Asher laughed, placing another kiss on my nose. That tickled, so I let out a little laugh.

"What's for after-school snacks, Mister?" I asked, once the smell reached my nose.

"Why don't you look for yourself, my love?" Asher picked me up and carried me towards the counter.

"Smells delicious," I said, inhaling the sweet fragrance of whatever delicacy Asher cooked. He let out a laugh.

"And my baby heart gets to eat all of that." He placed a kiss on my temple.

"Before sitting down to eat, why don't you go upstairs and ask Lucian if he needs anything?" Ashed said, putting me down and bending down to my level.

He smiled sweetly but my smile dropped.
"Is he sick?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. "He wasn't present for breakfast either."

"He's okay." Asher patted my head and kept his sweet smile glued to his face. "He's just in a very bad mood."

"Why?" I asked. "We just won the war. Shouldn't he be happy?"

Asher shook his head.
"There's other things that stress him out." Asher chuckled. "Don't worry about it."

I nodded and pulled back. Asher booped my nose once before I turned around to leave the kitchen.

I hate that Lucian has so much burden on his shoulders. Managing a business so big and a Mafia and on top of that, a whole family. He must be really exhausted. Wish I could take away some of his burden.

I knocked on his bedroom door, hearing a soft 'come in' from inside, a second after.

Woah! Who broke him?

He doesn't speak so softly ever. His 'Come in' always sounds more like 'try to enter this room and see how just your dismembered body gets out'.

I opened the door and poked my head in. A sweet smile graced my lips as my eyes found my brother.
"Asher asked if you needed anything?"

Lucian looked up when he heard my voice. He was sitting at his desk chair, doing whatever. He gave me a small smile in return and shook his head.

"Alrighty, brother. Here's some love," I said, passing a flying kiss to the poor brother in a bad mood before turning to leave. I didn't actually want to leave. I wanted to hug the life out of Lucian or at least stay with him for a while.

A little bark stopped me from closing the door. I stepped back inside only to find Cookie, getting out from behind Lucian's desk and charging at me.

I gathered my little baby in my arms and looked at Lucian, shocked.
"You guys are finally friends?" I asked, hugging Cookie tight to my chest. I released my hold on him when he started struggling.
