---"Why would Lucian even do that?" Damien exclaimed, stomping behind Asher angrily.
"I tried to change his mind." Asher shrugged, entering his office. Despite his attempts to appear nonchalant, there was worry all across his face.
"This isn't right, Asher." Damien took a seat and immediately poured himself a glass of water. He watched Asher take his seat and insisted. "You know how Dad acts."
"I tried, Damien." Asher sighed, rubbing his forehead. He let out an exasperated sigh and spoke,
"Lucian thought he should go.""He's tortured him enough." Damien frowned. He gulped down the water to calm his nerves a little. "Why would Lucian walk back into his trap?"
"Dad has his ways to get Lucian to do whatever he says," Asher gritted, feeling frustrated with himself for not trying hard enough to change Lucian's mind about this meeting. "I don't know what he said but Lucian was determined to meet him."
"It's not safe." Damien shook his head, his fists clenching tightly because of the stress.
"And he's Lucian." Asher sighed. "He'll handle it."
5:43. He was three minutes late. Lucian glared at the clock and chugged down his drink. He needed some alcohol in his system to deal with this.
He picked up the bottle to refill his glass but stopped when he heard heavy footsteps approaching. He stared at the door, trying hard not to give in to the visions from the past, flooding his mind.
After a few seconds, the door opened. Alessandro Mazzanti stepped in, looking around the dark office with an impressed look. It had just enough light to see clearly but not enough to ruin the dark aura of the room.
"Hello, Lucian," he greeted, once he spotted him sitting at the high desk chair, with his hands resting on the table, his hands clasped together. Lucian looked rather confident for the man's liking; too unbothered.
Lucian didn't greet him back, knowing he was just mocking him. His sharp gaze followed the older man until he took a seat on one of the chairs in front of him.
"What do you want to talk about?" He asked, wanting him to get straight to the point and get this meeting over with.
"Well," Alessandro shrugged. "Aren't we catching up to how stuff is going? How are my daughters?"
"Better without you, Dad," Lucian gritted, his temper immediately rising on him mentioning his sisters.
"What about my other kids? Are you looking after them well?" He tilted his head to the side.
"Still better." Lucian clenched his jaw, glaring at the man dangerously. His hands clenched into fists in anger as he fought to keep himself under control.
Alessandro laughed.
"You think you'll become their Dad just because you have their custody, don't you, Lucian?""Why don't you keep my siblings out of this and get to the point?" Lucian gritted.
Alessandro leaned forward, a glare of his own on his face.
"Whatever you're doing is wrong, Lucian. Challenging your own father to war, framing him for fraud and making him go bankrupt, that's just shameful on your part.""You decided to ruin our family. You decided to hurt your own kids," Lucian gritted. "Don't try to feed me such bullshit, Dad."
Alessandro stood up abruptly. Lucian flinched, a slight fear bubbling inside him that he tried hard pushing down. The flinch did not go unnoticed, though.
