Author's POV
Anagh went to his bedroom and called his friend, Mani, to inform that he's not coming to the office. But a sudden knock on the door interrupted him. He opened the door to see Bhavya there. He mentally facepalmed himself and asked with a tight lipped smile
"Ji, kahiye ab kya aadesh hai aapka?."
(Yes, tell me what is your order?)
At this Bhavya shook her head seeing his over dramatic ass and pulled his ear and said,
"Did you take your medicine?."
He looked at her with squinted eyes and answered
"No, But you tell me, is that what you wanted to know?"
Bhavya's expression changed from relaxed to worried and this made it clear to Anagh that she is here for something else.
He grabbed her hand and took her inside the room, made her sit on the edge of the bed and himself sit on the floor near her feet. After a few seconds passed he finally asked her, "What is bothering you?"
She couldn't control her tears which she'd been holding back for a long time and told him
"Mickey, I think Kartavya is not happy with me."
This statement made his senses numb.
It took him a few moments to process what she was saying before he asked her politely.
"What did he do that you think like this?."
Her tear stricken face was hurting him more. His mother, like Bhabhi, is crying over something which is impossible to even think about. He wanted to know what triggered her to question his brother's loyalty toward her.
Bhavya started fidgeting with her fingers and said
"Yesterday, after coming back from the hospital I asked Kartavya to come with me as I had to go somewhere. He said he has a lot of work, so he could not come to drop me but would ask Kaashi to join me. It was midnight when he got a call from someone and said that he's free tomorrow and will come to pick her up."
She wiped her tears from her face with the back of her hand.
There's complete silence in the room; only her sobbing and clock ticking sound can be heard. He doesn't understand what to say at this point because he knows his brother loves her a lot and not even in his worst dream he can think like that. But whatever his bhabhi told him right now made him more angry at, Kartavya. How can his brother treat her like this?
Something fell and it broke their trance and they both looked up at the door frame where Kartavya was standing with an old lady. Both stood up immediately and before they could utter a word Kartavya stormed out of their eyesight.
Bhavya and Anagh exclaimed "Nani!!!!"
Sensing the tension in the air Nani said
"I called him yesterday to pick me up from the railway station because he planned to give you a surprise, as tomorrow is your birthday. He told me that you're missing me."Manjeet Bedi ( Anagh's Nani)
As soon as the words left from Nani's mouth, reality dawned upon both of them and Bhavya's heart ached at the thought of her accusations on Kartavya. She cursed herself and cried profusely. Nani came inside and sat beside her. Putting Bhavya's head on her shoulder, she made her understand that
"Trust is the foundation of a relationship. You should clear things with your partner before assuming anything. These little misunderstandings take a relationship to the edge of breaking down sometimes."
Anagh seems to be a little puzzled with the turns of events. Fighting the urge to say something to his bhabhi who's crying over her assumptions, he dropped the idea. He came forward and sat in front of her and said "Bhabhi, do you know the girl I told you, bhaiya used to admire secretly? You know who she is?" She shook her head in denial like a baby.
He giggled and said "It's you!!...his Avya." Her eyes widened in shock because she never knew that he liked her from his college days. He used to tell her that this marriage is arranged by his family and he accepted their proposal without second thought. But what she did not know is that he's her secret admirer.
Nani held her hands in her and politely asked "Did he ever try to distance himself from you? Or did he ever ignore any of your words?" Bhavya started remembering how he always roamed around her like a lost puppy. Always called her from the office to ask her about her day or if she hadn't overworked herself. Never for a minute he left her side if she fell sick.
Now she's regretting her words and feeling sick in her stomach. So many scenarios are going on in her mind like "What if he decides to leave me? What if he thinks of me like every other woman who doubts her husband's loyalty?"
Seeing her face like a dry leaf, Nani understood her turmoil and gave her encouragement "Bhavya, beta pati patni sui or dhaage ki tarah hai jaise sui bina dhaage ke adhuri hai, waise hi dhaage ko bina sui me piroye rishton ka kapda nahi siya ja sakta."
( Bhavya, husband and wife are like a needle and a thread, a needle is incomplete without a thread, in the same way, the fabric of a relationship cannot be sewed without a thread being threaded into the needle). She got Nani's point and nod her head in understanding.
