"Ichiko syndrome? I don't understand. What does that have to do with me and my family? Its some stupid illness old people have." I muttered. "But, do you think it's a true illness?" She asks me. I pause.
Ichiko syndrome - a syndrome often found in elderly people where they experience memory lost or mixed of memories. They often say they recall Ichiko having a twin sister. But it was just rumors.
"I do not think it's real.. but I.." before I could finish, she says what I wanted to say for me. "Because you also have an Illness right? The so called Aishi condition. Where members of the family feels empty until they find someone to love and fix them?" She said blankly, I look at her in shock. "How did you.." - "My mentor did research. Atleast he used to. It was for the trial back in 1989. You know that right?" She asks. I nod in response. "Good, that saves me the trouble. What I'm saying is, The Saikou's have taken an interest in your family. Your mother may have even talked to the CEO of Saikou Corp. That's why this "Megami" was very weary of you." She sighed.
It all connects to each other.. why Megami was so angry at me. Could it be that she let her guard down around me because if quietly eliminated my rivals..? If so, then she probably still suspects me.. but why did she make me apply for student council? Is it really to keep an eye on me? That could be the case. After all..
Flashback~
Upon entering the student council room to put a bug info instructed me to do, the laptop on top of the table opened. Someone speaking.."Is someone there?" ..could that be the president? "...Ah! It's you..."I look at the laptop curiously. Keeping silent. "Why have you come here? Have you come here to taunt me?"
"Do you even know who I am? I know who you are."
"-I know WHAT you are."
"My father won't allow me to attend school while you are..."active". "
"He has a reason for tolerating your presence at this school. I don't."
"You are a vulgar creature that is only allowed to exist because you serve a purpose."
"If it was my decision, then every last one of you would be exterminated."
"Have fun while you can. If you and I ever cross paths...you're going to have a bad time."
End of flashback.
After all. She did threaten to commit genocide on my family. "I hope you understand, Ayano. Not everyone is your friend." Sonoko said to me. I look at her. "Why are you even helping me with this? Aren't you afraid I'm like my mother?" I ask. "Yes.. that is.. nevermind. I want to put aside the past. My mentor - the journalist... I haven't seen him in so long.. yet I'm worried for him. He reached out to me saying that his life is being targeted. I.. I really don't understand. Why would your mother even bother to go to America just to track down and kill him? Its been years, so why now?"
"You said you and my mother were good friends right? Then why did you still chose to help the journalist?" I ask. "Yes.. we were.. I think. I don't even know what we were anymore. She did a huge favor for me, sure. But now looking back at it, she most likely did that to get rid of me.." she muttered, frustrated. Then she got up and handed me her hand.
"Ayano Aishi, would you like to help me..get to the bottom of this case?" It was a bit dramatic, like from a show or something. What is this, a written story or something? Regardless, I accepted her hand. "Let's get to the bottom of this."
Sonoko just found herself smiling. "Haha.. it's been so long since I.. since ive focused on the case.. I feel so.. excited!" She muttered, almost tearing up. "please don't forget my mother is close to coming home." I reminded her. She immediately snapped out of it. "Right. As long as my mentors alive, I don't think she'll be home anytime soon. But I don't think he can last that long." She gathered pictures from her bag and scattered them around the table. Then she pointed at one. "This is (redacted) it's where your mother and my mentor is playing 'cat and mouse.' by next week, I'm going to have to travel there and help him out." She then pointed at me. "Ayano, you do know that we're putting your mother up for being caught by the police, right? Are you sure you want to help me with this?" I hesitated to respond. My mother has cared for me. And I'm not exactly innocent myself either. By doing this im putting myself in danger. But why do I...
