Chapter 3

Kaneki's POV

~Bookstore~

Hiyori smiled brightly. She's very nice. I just hope she's not a ghoul like Rize. Her eyes dragged over to my book and her expression flashed to shock. A gasp slipped from her lips.

"Oh my gosh, you read that too. I've read that book, it's a good book isn't it?" Hiyori said excitedly as she ran over to me. I felt my cheeks getting hot. I nodded. "Y-ya it's a good book." I can't believe it. She likes book too? "Yo, Hiyori." The blonde boy Hide called. "What?" She turned her attention towards the blonde. "You don't seem like the type that reads books. Are you secretly a nerd?" He said. Hiyori shook her head. "I'm not a nerd I just like to read every now and then that's all." She smiled. "My friend Kaneki here is a nerd." Hide called out wrapping his arm around me.

"H-hide." My cheeks got hotter from embarrassment. Everyone just laughs, even Hiyori. "It's okay to be a nerd." Hiyori said. That made me happy. I sparked a shy little smile.

I noticed something pink and glowing behind Hiyori. It kinda looks like a tail. Wait, it is a tail. "Hiyori." I said. She turns towards me with a bright smile. "Yea what is it, Kaneki."

"Why do you have a tail?" I asked. "Oh I haven't noticed that." Hide says. "How did you not notice that Hide?" Kaneki asked. Hide smiled nervously and scratched the back of his head. "Umm... well."

Hiyori's POV

~Bookstore~

Oh no, I slipped out of my body again and I didn't notice. I need to make up something quick. I can't just tell them I'm a spirit when ever I slip out of my body.

"Oh... umm, It's uh... cosplay." I nervously smiled. If I'm a spirit how did they see me, Kofuku, and Yukine at first?

He nods. "Oh that stuff that people do sometimes. I get ya." Hide says. I nodded my head. That was a close one. I should change the subject before they ask about it more. "So Kaneki what other books do you read?" I asked.

Kaneki's face light up when I sled that question. "You two are such nerds, you're perfect for each other." Hide teased. I just rolled my eyes. Red rushed to Kaneki's cheeks.

Yukine's POV

~Bookstore~

"Yuuuuukiiiiiiiiineeeeeeee." Yato says. He appeared behind me and snatches me by the collar of my shirt. "You dumb ass, why would you leave me behind?" Yato yelled. "Who's this?" Hide asked. "No one important, just some sweaty idiot." I reply with no care. "Why you, Yukine. I'm a God, how dare you." Yato yells. "A God?" Hide asked under his breathe. "Yukine, you need to learn to respect your master." Yato yells shaking me around, still holding me by my shirt. I roll my eyes. "Yukine." Yato yells. "Shut up already." I say.

Yato's expression turns to angry. "Hiyori back me up here." Yato yells. When he looks over at Hiyori she's not even looking at him she's talking to Kaneki. "Hiyori!" Yato whines. He stomps over to Hiyori.

Hiyori's POV

~Bookstore~

Yato stomped over to me with an angry expression. "Hiyori!" Yato said impatiently. I turn to Yato. "Yea, what is it?" I ask. "You didn't back me up." Yato said. "Oh, well I'm talking to Kaneki here don't you see?" I gesture at the boy behind me. Yato looks at him. "What's your name?" Yato asked seriously. "K-Kaneki. What's yours?" Kaneki seemed kinda scared of Yato.

"I'm Yato." He points at himself with his thumb. "Miss Hiyori." Kaneki said looking over at me. I turned my attention towards Kaneki. "Yea?" I smiled. "Is Yato your boyfriend?" Kaneki asked. Yato and I's expression flashed to shocked by his words.

My cheeks started to heat up. "W-what? N-no way. Like him and I would ever be together." I managed to say in my shocked state.

"O-oh o-ok" Kaneki shyly said. I was about to talk to Kaneki a bit more about some books to change the subject. When Yato grabs me by the wrist and pulls me over to a corner.

He turns around to face me."Hiyori, I don't want you to hang around that boy anymore." Yato said calmly. "Why, is it because he actually is nice and listens to me unlike you. You haven't fixed me yet." I snap.

" That has nothing to do with it!" He yells. "Or maybe he's just jealous of Mr.Kaneki." Kofuku interrupted. "N-no, that has nothing to do with it either." Yato's face started to turn pink.

"He's totally jealous. It's written all over his face. He doesn't like the fact that you'll pay more attention to Mr.Kaneki than Yato-san. " Kofuku said with a smirk.

"Shut up Kofuku that has nothing to do with it! I'm just getting a bad vibe from that guy. I don't trust him." Yato said starting off yelling then ending in a tone of calmness.

"Good excuse Yato." Kofuku smirked. "Seriously why are you here you nosy pest?" Yato said annoyed looking at Kofuku as if he wanted her to just disappear. She smiled, turned around and walked away. "Whatever you say." Kofuku says as she leaves.

I turn to leave, but Yato snatched my wrist before I go any further. " Please just listen to me this once, I'm serious." He said calmly. "You can't tell me what to do." I yanked my arm away and walked back to everyone.

Yato's POV

~Bookstore~

That Hiyori why doesn't she listen to me. At least this once. I sensed a bad vibe from him. The thought angered me. I just turned and stopped out the store. I warned Hiyori. It's her fault for not listening.
