Hi. My names Barbara, or Barbie, Quagmire. I'm just an average girl who lives an average life. Well, sort of. I guess you could say that I'm a little bit different from everyone else. I actually like school...

Oh, and I'm a werewolf. Well, not yet anyways, but I will be soon. My 17th birthday is tomorrow, which means I will finally be old enough to learn how to shift into a wolf. It's also New Year's Day, the day of our pack's biggest annual celebration where all 17 year olds will meet their mate. A mate for a werewolf is basically like an arranged marriage, except the arranging was done by god and not my parents. So exciting!

The sharp ringing of the school bell pierces my thoughts, and I jump like a cat in one of those human internet videos where they put a cucumber next to it. Sighing deeply, I close the book I was reading, reluctant to leave the comfort of the classroom behind. As I shove 'War and Peace' (because I'm smart) into my canvas messenger bag, I hang my head and step into the crowded hallway.

The short walk from English class to the school's big, wooden double doors is like a stampede. I desperately try not to get trampled by a group of beta male cucks as they romp around hitting each other or whatever it is that men do. One of them shoves another, who stumbles backwards into me. I'm so tiny and frail that the impact sends me flying backwards into someone's open locker, and like I said I'm tiny so I fit inside it easily. The girl whose locker it is doesn't even notice, and slams the door with me inside!

"Help!" I yell frantically, banging my small, weak, and feminine hands against the locker door. No one hears me, and I begin to cry. My life sucks. I'm weak, wear glasses, have no friends, and no boys like me! As much as I love learning, the one thing about school I don't like is the violent bullying.

"Hey, is someone in there?" A deep, husky voice asks as I weep.

"Yes! Please let me out!" I cry, trying to peer through the cracks in the door to see who I'm talking to. Whoever it is, the only thing I can see is his bright blue orbs.

The handle to the locker rattles, presumably as the guy struggles to open it.

"It's locked," he says finally, after a minute or two of trying.

"Yeah, I know." I can't help but roll my eyes, hoping this simpleton won't be able to catch my sarcasm.

"So what password combination should I try first? I'm thinking 69, 69, 69?" The guy asks, and I can only imagine what kind of thoughts go on inside his tiny pea brain. Whatever he decides to do, I hope he gets on with it because it smells like old food and piss in here. Most of the seniors, including the girl whose locker I'm in, have already learned to shift. They prefer to change into wolves and lift their leg on their lockers instead of using the bathroom (Consequently, janitor is one of the most respected and best paying occupations a werewolf can have. Our current Alpha was briefly a janitor in college).

"Umm, do you think you could just get a teacher or something?" I suggest.

"Wait, I've got it!" The man says confidently. I hear an alarming banging against the door, like the sound of someone punching metal. This man is so strong, that he actually manages to bust the lock and the now crooked door swings open with a high pitched creeeeaaak, halfway off its hinges.

"Wow, thanks!" I say, impressed and also petrified. I look up at the man and his piercing gaze meets mine. Oh my god! It's the Alpha's oldest son, Damon!

"My pleasure," Damon says with a wink. "You were crying so cutely, I just had to help a pretty girl in distress. Well, I'll see you later tonight at the party!" He winks again and then walks straight ahead into the glass doors, bumping his head. Damon finally finds the handle and turns to leave, but not before shooting me a third and final wink.

My voice catches in my throat and I drop my bag in shock (or hornyness?). 'War and Peace' falls out and begins to roll down the hallway somehow even though it's literally a book and not round at all.

"Oh no!" I yelp, chasing after it. I'm just about to grab it when it reaches a set of stairs and rolls down those too, just for good measure. Finally I catch up to it. Luckily the generational heirloom bookmark my mom gave me before she died is still in place.

"Wow, War and Peace? You're smart and also not like other girls." Another deep, husky voice catches my attention. I spin around on my heels in time to see Damien, the alphas second oldest son holding out my copy of W & P. He has the same sparkling blue orbs as his brother, but brown hair instead of black.

"Oh thanks," I giggle and blush. Being called not like other girls is the best compliment ever!

"Personally I prefer erotic Star Wars fan fiction but I dig smart chicks anyways." Damien says with a wink. I guess winking runs in the family.

"Oh, okay." I mumble awkwardly. What's a star wars?

"I guess I'll see you at the party later." Damien shrugs as he saunters away, wearing sunglasses inside because he's cool as fuck. He takes a hit from his vape before running up the stairs on all fours (not as a wolf he just does that).

"Ugh, my brothers are so annoying," says a third deep and husky voice. I turn around again. It's Daryl, the youngest of the Alpha's sons and my childhood best friend. I gaze into his brilliant blue orbs and swoon. Daryl sweeps his bleach blond hair out of his face. The three boys are basically identical except for hair color so people can tell them apart.

"Yeah they're so annoying," I lie. Secretly I wish that we could all have a foursome but there's no way Daryl or Damien would be down for that. Damon, maybe. He's a fucking pervert.

"So are you excited to meet your mate tomorrow?" Daryl asks as we walk outside the school together.

"Yes and no," I say timidly. "I'm so small and helpless I'm worried that my mate will reject me. Plus I'm a nerd who likes to read!"

Daryl just shakes his head. "Barbie," he begins with a soft smile on his astonishingly chiseled face. "If only you could see yourself the way I- I mean, other people, see you." He gulps, sweat trickling down his forehead. "Your mate is going to love you." Daryl reassures me.

"You mean it? Even though I'm soooo short and skinny?" I ask, hope beginning to seep into my thoughts.

"Yeah, even though you're skinny. I bet your mate will even tolerate the fact that you're a virgin loser who likes school." Daryl tells me.

"Wow, buddy! That means a lot to me. You're such a good pal, friend-o!" I say excitedly, wrapping my arms around Daryl's neck and pulling him close for a hug.

"Yeah..." Daryl purses his lips disappointedly. "Well, I've got to go home and do Alpha things." He waves goodbye, winks over his shoulder, and starts to walk away.
