Mabel whined from her position in the garden. She had taken her wolf form to avoid talking to anyone at this get together. It was the baby shower of her brother Blaine. Blaine. Her twin, her best friend and the one person she could always count on. Mabel's illusion was shattered brutally her brother didn't have time for her any more. His mate got all his attention. Huffing Mabel knew she shouldn't be jealous of the one person made for him, But it was hard for her. Blaine had been her everything, they had stuck together like glue, he chased away bullies, always nursed her back to health when she got sick. Her parents were wonderful and she knew they loved her dearly but she felt lonely.

Her wolf whimpered at the thought. Here she was surrounded by the family and pack who loved her and she felt so alone. Yawning in stress Mabel curled in on herself as she watched the scene in front of her. Blaine and his mate Jenny were cutting into two white cakes while their family and friends watched. Mabel's ears perked up as the cakes were cut.

Tears fell down Jenny's face and Blaine hugged her close placing a kiss on her forehead as he turned the cakes around for the crowd to see. Mabel's tail wagged despite herself. She was happy for them. truly she was. Howling as the crowd cheered, Joy buzzing around the garden. One of the cakes was blue inside and the other was pink. One of each just like her and Blaine.

Turning away from the scene Mabel trotted back into her parent's home. It was cosy with family photo's lining the walls. Each of her siblings having a place where their achievements were celebrated. Her nieces and nephews were displayed too. Getting to her room she pushed the door closed before dressing.

A soft knock at the door a few minutes later had a unwilling grin stretch across her face. Her parents. Their soft scents unmistakeable under the door.

"Come in" She called out.

Turning to face them as she entered she offered her Dad and Papa a smile. Both men were small, standing at 5'4, Nicholas had soft brown hair and misty green eyes whilst Greyson had blue eyes and dark blonde hair.

"Mabel, sweetheart" Greyson began.

"Papa"

Mabel responded with the same tone as her papa. She giggled as Greyson put his hand on his hip and looked at his daughter with a disapproving look.

"We're worried about you Mabel, you lock yourself away and you hardly talk to anyone in your human form anymore" Nicholas continued, concern leaking into his voice.

"I'm fine Dad, really I am" Mabel sighed.

It was a lie, she wasn't fine. She felt like she didn't belong. Her wolf was a beta and she was being denied the position. She understood though, Harper and Justin made excellent beta's and Mabel wouldn't dream of challenging Harper for the position.

"You're not" Came Greyson's scolding.

"Grey, be easy on her" Nicholas nudged his mate, earning a playful scowl from Greyson.

"Please baby just tell us what wrong, we want to help" Greyson pleaded, regarding his daughter with unshed tears gathering in his eyes. He could see she was hurting and he didn't know how to help.

Mabel's inner wolf forced a whimper through her lips. The concern her parents had for her was heart warming.

"I just feel so alone" Mabel whispered softly hoping they hadn't heard her.

The sorrow that filled the room squandered her hopes as she looked at the sad expressions of her omega parents.

"Oh baby, my baby" Nicholas cried as he reached forward and pulled her into a bone crushing hug.

Mabel let it happen as tears began falling down her cheeks. She shouldn't feel like this. She had wonderful parents and a wonderful pack but she just couldn't keep in her upset any longer.

"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't be crying like this" Mabel sniffed.

She hugged her dads as Greyson joined them and they sat on the floor of her childhood bedroom.

"Never apologise for your tears May-May" Greyson warned softly, placing a kiss to her hair.

They stayed like that for a while her parents comforting her like the used to when she had a bad dream as a pup. Mabel resolved herself to try harder. She needed to be her own person. She needed to be her own wolf.
