Jay growled, irritation rising strongly as his wolf pushed forward. His fist collided with the gamma of his pack, striking the other man in the face. Training was running long and he was getting antsy. Jay just wanted to run as a wolf. But after this he knew after this he had to do paper work.
"Damn Jay, chill" The gamma Devan groaned. Holding his cheek as it throbbed with pain.
"Damn it Dev" Jay sighed collecting himself as the warriors around him stopped their sparring matches.
Jay was practically on a knife's edge of rage. His older brother had come to him this morning bragging to him about how he had found his mate. She was a sweet she-wolf apparently and his brother had bragged that she would do anything he asked within reason.
Jay wanted that. A sweet little mate that he could shape to his liking. A safe person where he could let go of his anger and just be him. Scoffing at the thought, Jay turns towards the warriors of the pack.
"We're done for today, get some rest and make sure if you have patrol duty you're on time" Jay voiced, causing several of the warriors to wince.
Jay just rolled his eyes before turning on his heel and heading into the pack house. He walked to the alpha's office quickly. Alpha Cedric was Jay's best friend. They grew up together and was one of the only people that didn't see Jay's aggression as an obstacle but instead an opportunity. Stopping to take a breath just outside the door, he knocked. The last time he didn't he got an eye full of what his alpha's should be doing in private places.
"Come in" Cedric called.
Heeding his alpha's words Jay pushed open the door, his shoulders sagging with relief when he found its only his friend in here today.
"I heard you almost broke Devan's jaw again today Jay" Cedric spoke, as Jay closed the door to the office.
His alpha's tone was scolding but playful. His alpha was a built man with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. When he smiled dimples were present, it gave Cedric a boyish charm. He'd not long taken over for his father. The same could be said about Jay.
"He lived didn't he" Jay groaned, walking to his seat in the office and cursing under his breath at the amount of paper work he needed to go through.
"He did, but you can't go taking your anger out on your pack mates" Cedric admonished, from behind his own stack of paper work.
"Yes alpha" Jay responded quickly, his wolf wanting to sooth his alpha if Cedric was angry with him.
For all of his aggression Jay wouldn't say his wolf was the same way. His beast was downright soft and sweet to everyone of their pack brothers and sisters. Maybe that's why they all put up with him.
"Just try no to let it happen again" Cedric chuckled.
A peaceful silence then settled over them as they continued their work. Budgeting, transfers, new mates, births, deaths, territory and alliances.
"Have you been putting this off, its marked as three months ago" Jay asked holding up a piece of paper for alliances.
On the top of the paper it reads. You're invited to the Frostfang pack's gala in 3 months time.
"Oh that, well when I found Daria, everything sorta got pushed back" Cedric shrugged.
Jay clicks his tongue as he reads the entire invitation. His wolf whining in his mind as he reads the date. Jay curses again the word hissed through his lips.
"Cedric, this is for three days from now" Jay groaned, eyes catching those of his alpha's.
"Oh It is"
"Yeah so what are we gonna do Cedric"
"You can go in my place, Jay perhaps you'll find something to mellow you out" Cedric orders, its a soft order but Jay recognises it as one anyway.
"Yes alpha" Jay replies.
"And Jay, best behaviour, got it" Cedric warned.
Jay nods in response. He knew what his alpha meant. No starting fights and no imposing his will on another pack.
"I won't let you down alpha" Jay reassured, saying it and hoping he means it.
"Very good, your dismissed for the day, go have a run or something You need to mellow out a bit"
"Yes sir"
Jay wasted no time, leaving the office and pack house. Finding a tree to stuff his clothes into and calling the shift. Dark grey fur sprouting as he drops to all fours. He was big. He had to be. He was a beta and a strong one at that. He needed to be strong enough to protect his pack. Snarling after the shift had finished Jay pushed off from his back legs and he was sprinting. Sprinting at full speed through his pack's territory, huffing every time a branch snapped into his side or face. The stinging pain only helped to ease his anger. Why did his older brother pass on being Beta. Why did he have to take on a responsibility that he never wanted. He was sure everyone hated him. Well maybe not Cedric.
Growling at his own thoughts Jay tripped, rolling head over tail into a resting deer. His wolf took over for him, Jay too disoriented to think. He watched as his beast went straight for the throat. Snarling as the deer managed to kick him in the face with its hoof. His wolf killed the creature quickly and efficiently. A few growls leaving his muzzle but otherwise a clean kill. Only when his wolf had satisfied itself did it give him back control.
Jay laughed, though it probably sounded like snorting in his wolf form. His stomach full and now that he had killed something his anger had dissipated. Shifting to his human form Jay laughed again. A haunted sound of someone giving too much of themselves. His wolf whimpered again, worried about his human half and his mentality.
