Jay was sweating, he didn't mean to scare her. Hiding his scent was second nature to him, he hadn't consciously realised he was doing it until she had called out to him. Sweet, sultry and teasing all in one tone and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't turned on. As it currently was his mate had him pinned and her teeth were dangerously close to his throat. She was strong. Stronger than any woman he'd ever fought. Wiggling to try and free himself from her grip he gulped when he realised he couldn't move. He'd let his scent go as soon as she had called him a trespasser and was watching the gears turn in her brain.
"Your my mate" She breathed her canines retracting as she sat back on his stomach.
She was no longer holding him down but Jay didn't dare move his mate was stronger than him and his wolf was already submitting to her. His beast was already smitten and whining to do whatever it took to make his mate happy. Jay cursed internally at his wolf.
"Yeah" He replied when he realised she was waiting for him to speak.
"Why were you following me in the dark like a creep" his mate asked the hard edge of anger still present in her voice.
"I didn't mean to, I was going to say hello, but I was following you before I knew it" Jay pleaded, his wolf forcing him to bare his neck in submission in order to appease his mate.
A click of her tongue told him she didn't quite believe him but her hostility had faded. Letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding Jay offered his most charming smile. Hoping to placate her enough to get of him but he didn't know if it would work.
"You're beautiful" Jay breathed, taking her all in.
Her Navy dress hugged her skin and her platinum blonde hair was curled to perfection. Her Blue eyes were ice cold but were warming as a blush crept up her cheeks. She looked ethereal and her scent was intoxicating. He itched to touch, to taste, to claim but he kept to himself. His desire was second to what she wanted.
"Thank you" She giggled turning her head so Jay wouldn't be able to see her face.
Taking her momentary distraction Jay pushed himself up, his mate falling onto his lap. She turned to face him, glaring at him as their breathing mingled.
"I'm sorry, lets start again. My name is Jay, the beta from the Haze pack" Jay introduced.
"I'm Mabel" His mate replied as she got up from his lap.
His wolf whined at the loss of contact as she walked further away to find her shoes. Jay stood up as slowly as he could. He didn't want to startle her again, not considering how well it went last time.
"That's a beautiful name Mabel" Jay remarked softly.
"You're supposed to think that" Mabel laughed coolly.
Jay's wolf whined at how cold Mabel was being. Jay sighed, he thought he had made peace but his mate still seemed untrustful of him. It hurt but seeing her nearly reject him hurt even more.
"Please Mabel, give me another chance" Jay begged, voice wavering as sadness coated him.
"Another chance?" Mabel asked softly, tilting to the side.
"I thought you were rejecting me" Jay whimpered.
"No, gods no, Jay I" Mabel began rushing forward and cupping his face in her hands, forcing him to look at her.
"You're not" Jay asked, searching her eyes but only finding guilt and regret in them.
"I'm sorry I made you feel that way Jay, I just don't have good memories of being followed in the dark" Mabel sighed, brushing Jay's bangs out of his face.
The admission of his mate had fiery hot anger coursing through his veins. It was odd, he had been calm for this entire encounter but when Mabel had said this wasn't the first time someone had snuck up on her in the dark his anger had returned. His wolf forced him to calm down when Mabel started nuzzling under his chin.
"It's okay, I'm sorry I should have introduced myself as soon as I saw you" Jay murmured, pulling her into him. The hug was short but she felt perfect against him.
"You should have, but I'm sorry for overreacting too" Mabel apologised, letting her hands drop from his face and hugging him back.
They stayed like that for several moments before they pulled apart. Jay offered her his most charming smile, taking her hand and leading his mate back towards the party. Paw steps ahead of them had Jay standing in front of his mate. Taking a protective stance a low growl vibrating through his chest. A light smack to his back had him turning to look at Mabel.
"They're my parents, running from the trouble they've just caused no doubt" Mabel laughed as two omega wolves raced past them.
"The famous first omega pair" Jay questioned, looking after them as they went.
"Yeah" Mabel nodded, chuckling as an alpha from a different pack came out of the venue with his suit jacket and trousers torn.
"Definitely troublemakers" Jay laughed as the angry alpha began to curse up storm.
"We should leave too, before the alpha realises I related to them" Mabel giggled, pulling on his arm and running with him.
His heart was so full that their was no room for anger. He wanted to feel this great all the time. Breathing felt lighter and his heart felt lifted.
"Will you come to my pack with me" Jay Spoke, heart roaring in his ears as nervousness overtook his entire being.
"I will" His mate's agreement made his heart soar.
If he wasn't still unsure after their first introduction he would've kissed her. Baby steps though, he'd have time to woo her when they went home and they could get to know each other. His alpha was gonna be so happy for him.
