Cellbit was exhausted. The dark rings under his eyes and stifled yawns every few minutes reminded him that he should stop playing puzzle games on school nights. Regardless of his tired mind, he began walking into school and heading towards his locker. Dodging people in the halls, he quickly arrived at his locker in the junior hallway. He unlocked it and set down his backpack. After unzipping his backpack, he emptied out the textbooks he had brought home the night before, opting to grab the chemistry book he would need for his first class. Book in hand, he slung his backpack over his shoulder, and headed for the chemistry lab.
He walked into the room, quickly finding his seat. Realistically, he still had a few minutes before class started, but it always made him feel less anxious when he was early. His lab partner hadn't gotten there yet, but that was typical for him. It wasn't often that the bandana wearing brunette was early, usually arriving just before the bell rang.
Cellbit opened his textbook, skimming over the material they were meant to work on today. His mind wandered, choosing to think about the fluffy haired boy that sat next to him. Roier. When they had first been partnered together, Roier had smiled warmly at Cellbit. Despite his more popular status, he had never treated Cellbit with anything but kindness. Cellbit's mind wandered further, tracing the lines of Roier's face, the curve of his lips, and the way his hair fell gently around his face. He imagined gently cupping Roier's face, gently leaning in to meet their lips. Cellbit could almost taste the sweetness of the imagined kiss, desperately wishing he could work up the nerves to act on his crush.
An elbow to his side snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked over to see Roier nodding his head toward the professor, who was staring at him. He looked back at Roier, eyes wide.
"Because they have a full outer shell," he whispered.
Cellbit repeated the answer out loud, and the professor moved on, satisfied with his answer.
"Thank you," Cellbit mouthed.
Roier smiled at him, and his heart melted. A few minutes later, a folded slip of paper slid into his vision. He quirked his head, and unfolded the paper revealing a scrawled note.
you okay man? you seem out of it lol o_0
Cellbit chuckled softly, grabbing a pen to write back.
Yeah, just a long night last night. Thanks for the help btw, I had no idea what he asked
Cellbit slid the note back across the table. He glanced over as Roier read it and smiled. Roier picked up his pen and scribbled down a new note. He gently slid the paper back to Cellbit, palm covering the paper. Cellbit reached over to grab the note, his fingers brushing against Roier's hand. He felt a blush spread over his cheeks and tint the tips of his ears.
yeah i could tell haha. what were you thinking about anyways?
Cellbit felt the pink tint turn darker. What was he supposed to say to that? Admit to the fact that he was daydreaming about him?
Nothing in particular, just daydreaming. Why, are you curious about my inner thoughts?
Before any sense could reach his brain, he slid the note back to Roier. They weren't particularly close, but he hoped that Roier would understand his teasing tone. When he read the note and chuckled, a wave of relief washed over Cellbit. Excitement spread through his body when the note made its way back to his side of the table.
and what if i am? would you tell me then?
Cellbit's eyes widened, and the blush that had covered his face a few minutes ago, flared back up. Flustered, he quickly wrote a response.
