jules had been training with the junior teams for a week, and he was miserable.

it wasn't that they were bad, and they had surprised him with their joviality and open arms. but they didn't possess the maturity, nor the levels jules required to succeed.

and he was devastated; his perfectionist side already began to find new faults in his form, faults that had arisen as a lack of challenge and equal competition.

through gritted teeth and a shameful swallow of his pride, he found the valour to challenge his labouring imprisonment.

one baleful knock on the boss' door later, and he found himself in the same chair in which he had received the abysmal news exactly one week ago.

an idea had struck jules, and he figured he would try his luck.

"can i help you, koundé?" xavi raised a raven eyebrow at the boy.

jules took a deep breath as he contemplated how to phrase his next few words.

"i need to train with the first team again." he told him. "my form is getting worse. there's tackles i need to practice that their league isn't even permitted to perform."

"and whose fault is it that you can't, jules?" xavi shook his head in disappointment.

jules was unaware of how he should respond, as the answer was woefully obvious and the question itself was rhetorical. he wasn't expecting to be shut down so fast, but he recognised that he deserved it. and so, he was ready to propose his last resort.

"look." jules began. "you said i couldn't train with the first team, or any team that participates in the leagues i was banned from."

"correct." xavi nodded, failing to comprehend where his defender was heading with this. "and?"

"the women's first team doesn't fall under that criteria, no?" jules cocked his head to the side, watching as xavi furrowed his brow and evidently searched for any flaw in his proposition.

"the women's team?" xavi questioned whether or not he had heard the boy correctly.

"si." jules nodded impassively, maintaining an indifferent expression.

"so from what i gather, you want to go train with the women's team?" xavi failed to understand the logic, wondering how it could possibly compare to the junior teams in jules' mind.

"they are undeniably more on my level than any of the junior male squads." the full-back shrugged. "some may say their pitch mentality is better than that of any male team."

xavi took a few moments to digest their conversation, seeking any reason that jules' proposition was illegible. but he simply couldn't find one.

"i'll make a few calls, and i'll get back to you." xavi sighed. "if there's one thing i respect about you, koundé, it's your determination.
