ousmane once again had joined aline's team, and a few other squads in the facility's main dining hall. despite having to so stoically give up his personal catering, he wanted to get his own perspective on aline to see just what it was that had jules so wound up about her.
he approached the table she was sat on alone; she liked to eat breakfast by herself as she usually felt it was simply too early to socialise. hence the questioning glare she shot at the right-wing.
"may i sit?" he placed his plate down on the table, drawing out a chair. her teammates watched in amusement, as they expected her to chew him out for disturbing her this early.
aline sighed, and nodded towards his chair and plate. "it looks like you already decided for yourself."
ousmane grinned, taking a seat. "very well. so it's my birthday this weekend, on saturday."
"that's lovely. congratulations on taking another trip around the sun. is that all?" aline blinked at him, slumped back in her seat as she sipped on her coffee.
"no," ousmane frowned at her. "i was wondering if you would come to my birthday party?"
"are you going to tell me when it is, or?" she covered her mouth as she yawned. she really didn't mean to seem so rude, but this was just how she was in the morning.
"saturday. i just said." ousmane replied, somehow maintaining a smile through her dryness.
"oh, right it's on your birthday. i would have liked to, but i'm afraid my brother is visiting town so i don't want to leave him alone, we don't get to spend a lot of time together and i really miss him." aline shrugged guiltily. she thought about how protective her brother was, thinking back to keira's comment on what he would think of the way she talked about jules. he didn't care what she got up to while he was abroad, but if he was at her home while she was out that would be a different story.
"don't be stupid." ousmane rolled his eyes.
aline was taken aback at the sudden insult. "excuse me?" she placed her fork back down on the table.
"i'm saying don't be ridiculous, bring him too!" ousmane laughed jovially, leaving over the table to poke her shoulder. "i see what jules means." he muttered under his breath.
"are you sure?" aline scrunched up her nose as she considered the logistics of taking her brother with her. sure, he was protective. but probably not after he had a few drinks in him, right?
ousmane waved her off dismissively. "of course, my friend! your brother is the team's brother." he kindly told her.
"alright, i suppose we might show our faces then." aline shot him a genuine smile.
