⚠️ Warning: ⚠️
This chapter is heavier. It contains a past character death, hospitalization, anxiety, panic attacks, a car accident, fire and death of a parent. Stiles also speaks Polish when his emotions get too high, particularly with anxiety and panic attacks. Translations are at the end. Take care!

Past: Five Years Ago

Stiles was running Lunar Landing when his radio crackled to life. "Cabin to Alpha."

"Go for Alpha."

"Arrow is coming up to relieve you. I need your assistance up here."

Stiles frowns confused but before he can say anything Allison is there to switch out with him. "I've got it, Alpha."

"What happened?" he asks.

Allison places her hand on his shoulder and squeezes. "Erica needs you."

Stiles can tell something isn't right, but he figures the sooner he gets up to the cabin, the sooner he'll figure out what's going on. He makes sure he's attached to the system before stepping off the platform.

When he gets to the cabin, he seeks out Erica who is in the den. This surprises him but he sees Boyd has taken over the desk. "Erica?" he says.

She turns to him with tears in her eyes. "Oh, Stiles."

He's pulled into a hug and now he's even more confused and starting to get nervous. "Erica what's wrong? You're crying. You never cry."

She pulls back and starts helping him out of his harness. "Stiles you need to listen closely. I got a call from the Guardians of Angels Hospital. They responded to a call about an accident that occurred near the river."

Stiles stands frozen as she takes his harness and hangs it up. "O-Okay. So, who—"

"It's Grace, Stiles," Erica whispers.

"What's Grace?"

Erica cups his face, her heart breaking when he flinches. "She was driving, and a driver swerved into her lane. Her car hit the rail and then sparked. By the time the ambulance got there..." She tightens her grip on his hands when he starts to pull away.

"You're lying. She's—Gracie is fine. I just talked to her at lunch."

Isaac walks inside and makes eye contact with Erica who nods back. Then she looks at Stiles who is starting to panic. "Izzy is gonna take you to the hospital, Stiles."

"Nie. Nie jestem—Muszę—" His chest tightens. His head starts spinning and he feels like he's going to pass out or throw up or both.

"Stiles! Listen to me, Hun. You gotta keep it together!"

Stiles starts to cry. "Why? How? How can I be expected to keep it together when Gracie is-is-is..."

Erica lets her own tears fall. "Because there's someone counting on you, Batman."

"Olivia," he whispers. His eyes widen. "Gdzie jest Oliwia? Gdzie jest mój mały aniołek?"

Isaac steps forward. "She's at the hospital. I'm going to take you to her."

Stiles blinks slowly trying to focus, which is becoming impossible. "She's okay?"

Erica nods and kisses Stiles's cheek. "I've got things here. Go."

Isaac gets Stiles's things from Erica because Stiles is like a zombie. All of them are worried because Stiles is never quiet. Isaac puts on classical jazz music in the car and drives as fast as he legally can to get to the hospital.

Stiles moves sluggishly and his eyes are full of pain. Isaac texts Erica to let her know that they made it to the hospital and then guides Stiles into the ER. Stiles blinks himself into action gathering his strength because he can't check out. There's a two-year-old little girl who needs him.

"My name is Mieczyslaw Stilinski. My god daughter was in an accident. Olivia Claudia Rose Baldwin."

The nurse checks her computer and nods. "Identification."

Isaac hands Stiles his wallet and Stiles hands his license to the nurse. "I need to see her and know that she's okay. Please?"

The nurse hands him back his ID and pages a doctor. Isaac places his hand on Stiles's shoulder. "What do you need from me?"

Stiles tenses only slightly at the contact but takes a deep breath. "I need a change of clothes and I need a ride home. Oh, a car seat. There's one at the house that I can use. Gracie left it behind last time." He tears up again and Isaac squeezes his shoulder.

"You focus on Olivia. I will take care of the rest."

The doctor comes up to them, holding out his hand. "Mr. Stilinski?" Stiles nods and shakes his hand. "I'm Doctor Matthews. We have Olivia in room 24. I'll take you there now."

Stiles follows the doctor and Isaac goes to get what Stiles will need. He updates Erica by text along with the rest of the pack.

When Stiles sees his god daughter lying so still in her bed, he chokes back a sob. "Livvy," he whispers and hurries over to her. His hands hover for a moment before brushing blonde curls out of her eyes.

Doctor Matthews gives him a moment to collect himself and then he begins to explain. "Little Olivia is simply sleeping right now. She has a mild concussion. So, we will be waking her up in an hour. It's likely she'll experience anxiety and perhaps some PTSD from this experience but that will be determined as she gets older. Other than that, she suffered some bruising and physically, she'll be just fine."

"And her mother?" Stiles asks, nodding his understanding, but he doesn't look away from Olivia.

"I'm afraid she didn't make it. When the ambulance arrived, it was too late to save her. I am truly sorry, Mr. Stilinski. If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to let us know."

Stiles swallows thickly, as he shoves the panic down again. "When can I take her home?"

"She will need to stay a couple more hours. Just long enough to ensure the concussion isn't any more severe. Then you can take her home."

"Thank you doctor."

"I'll leave you two now." Doctor Matthews takes his leave.

Stiles waits for the click signaling the door is closed before toeing off his shoes and climbing into the bed to cradle Olivia close. He lets the tears stream down his cheeks and presses a shaky kiss to her forehead. "I'm here, angel. I love you, Olivia." He squeezes his eyes shut as tight as he can. He has to be strong for her. Gracie is gone but Olivia is right here, and she needs him.
