(Season 1 - Episode 2)
~At the beginning of the outbreak~
Emily is profusely sweating, running from the creatures that made the world turn into a mess. Who would've thought that everything would fall apart like this? She saw one of those creatures bite a piece of flesh off a living human being. And what's more terrifying than disgusting, is that this creature looks human, but it doesn't act like it at all.
It moves weirdly, some move fast, some move slow. They have teeth marks on their faces, their arms, their legs. Anywhere on their body would make it possible for them to behave this way. It seemed impossible to Emily for a situation to change this quick, but it sadly did.
One moment she was in the store, getting food and drinks, a backpack lazily slung over her shoulders that was stuffed with some clothes. She was about to make a trip to her girlfriend's house. Then the next moment, she was shoving every essential item she could into her bag.
Food, water, knives, basically anything she could find. The store owner's focus wasn't even on her, because he was packing his own bag in the same rushed manner that she was. People were pushing everyone to get past others, some almost knocking her off her feet. But given the situation, she couldn't really get annoyed by it. She understood everyone's fear, because she felt it as her own.
Before Emily makes her way out on the street, she unpacks a knife as quick as she can, slightly standing to the side of the store so that she isn't pushed out through the door of the store by the strangers rushing in and out. Then she braces herself by inhaling deeply through her nose, breathing out through her mouth slowly.
The doors to the store open and she's met by a gigantic chaos that enveloped the streets of Atlanta. If she thought that Atlanta was a disastrous place before, she was wrong. A tank was driving up the street, multiple armored army vehicles following behind it as destruction happened left and right.
Emily takes a look to the left, then to the right, and decides to go where her way out of the city would be closest. Because obviously, the broadcast about a refugee center being set up was either a lie, or it was simply unsuccessful. She dodges every person she can, sometimes bumping into someone. But she doesn't look back to apologize like she usually does.
When the roads start to become clearer, she finally allows herself to take a breather. She's out of the city, that's all that seemed to matter to her at that point. She couldn't even start to think about what she's going to do next when a snarl reaches her ears. She turns around, a little too late.
Before she knows it, Emily is laying on the ground, teeth snapping at her face. She starts feeling around for her knife she'd dropped when it attacked her, all while holding it up. She wouldn't call it a person anymore because all it wanted was to sink its teeth into her face. Yet, she still didn't want to kill it. This was somebody before they turned into whatever this is.
