Secret Protector

Chapter 19: Dark Corners

                The voice on the other end of the phone was husky like he had just woken up.  The man clears his throat then I speak "Bryan oh my gosh, I'm so glad to hear your voice it's been forever, I love you so much".  At that I started to cry tears streaming down my face as I in vision memories of me and my brother playing on camp grounds.  With our family and cousins surrounding us as we played games and went fishing.  Bryans voice cracked and he started to cry.  "Oh my gosh!!! Jess where are you everyone is worried were with mom and Dale, none of us have slept in days we've been everywhere searching high and low for you!!!".  I laugh slightly "Can you promise to keep this a secret" he began to stutter but says "yes" in agreement.  "Well I have been hiding out in Summersville, South Carolina but before you say anything please promise me you'll come and pick me up I don't exactly know how I got here so fast and I don't know my way back home, I'm ready to come home and face the punishment of my actions but most of all the reality of everything".  I stopped talking so he could catch up with me.  "Of course ill come pick you up, I won't tell anyone" on the other line I heard him grab his keys and hop in the car.  "Where are you exactly" he turned on the car signaling he was leaving so I had administered him the address and we both said our goodbye's and parted ways.

         Now I had to tell Chris and Ursula and go pack my bags.  A few hours later I was in the apartment/motel 6 changing when I heard a knock.  As usual I had thought it was Chris but as I walked towards the door the pit in my stomach had grown profusely, I did not want open that door.  My hand clutched the door knob I swallowed and turned the knob.  Slowly, there was an eerily creek and I sighed a breath of relief.  It had just been Joshua I had forgotten I had given him my information.  I opened the door telling him to come. 

      I had laughed once he came in.  "You sure know how to scare people" I had said laughing grabbing my purse.  Walking towards him he laughed just as well.  "I remember you telling me you didn't have much longer here so I wanted to get the chance to take you out for a nice evening in the country".  He walked towards me brushing my bangs behind my ear.  He smiled and looked away grabbed my hand and at that we left. 

   We got in his car and left around 4 got to a restaurant called "Mountain Peek" we were literally on a mountain peek.  After he said we were gonna ride down the mountains on horses.  It was beautiful and it definitely helped soothed me and helped take my mind off of Nate I just focused on Joshua and his funny story's.  Joshua was very interesting but he wasn't anything like Nate.  I love Nate and miss him so much. 

   Moments later he grabbed my hand and ran out to the ranch and he saddled up the horses, I bet you he noticed that I wasn't really paying attention to him anymore.  I was more focused on Nate.  Somehow Nate has me hooked on him and its driving me to insanity.  Joshua smiled at me and helped me up on the horse.  We were gonna go on separate horses but he insisted I was to ride with him.  I didn't know the path and or how to ride a horse so I agreed and he took off.  Wind in our hair going full speed down the mountains.  It felt great I started giggling like a little kid would as they were being told they were going to Disney.  We hit a bump and I grabbed his waist tight.  I could feel him laugh as I did so, but he just grabbed my hands and wrap them around his abs. 

Minutes had gone by and soon it had been hours.  We were almost down the mountain when we had stopped to look at the stars and took a break.  We laid down on a rock me wrapped up in his arms and we both laughed and pointed to stars.  I had told him a little bit about me and he did the same.  He was dropped off at the door step of a farmers house and the old couple raised him.  Joshua was very entertaining he made me laugh a lot I don't remember a time when anything got awkward.  I laid closer to him and faced him my head on his chest, he played with my hair and he leaned down and kissed my forehead.  I shut my eyes as I was beginning to fall asleep, I heard the night owl and fell asleep.

I woke up hanging over someone's shoulder I was directed at a butt.  I'm being put on something and holding on tight im being rushed down a pathway.  I grunt with every bump we hit.  "Joshua whats going on" I say.  "Jessica we slept way to long we almost got lost in the mountains I need to take you back to the motel" he was out of breath. 

"Were here Jess" he says hopping off the horse he helps me off.  Spins me around and BAM!!! his lips meet mine.  He kisses me softly and slowly and smiles pulling away.  My reaction was priceless both shocked but wanting more.  He puts my hair behind my ear and kisses my forehead and says goodnight.  I parted from him and told him I was leaving and thanked him he told me to keep in touch.  He got back on the horse and took off I watched him as he left smiling.  I was gonna miss him.  I turned around and walked upstairs to my door and unlocked it slowly opening my door to being attacked by a mysterious figure.
