"I don't believe your mom approved this tattoo thing, babe" Matt enquired
"She didn't," Harper replied .
OF COUSE, SHE DIDN'T. Harper had her freedoms- probably more than she even needs, but a tattoo? Mrs. Dunn would never. If you know Harper, you know she never accepts no for an answer. Harper knew what she had to do the moment Jess shut down The Whole 'I Want to Get a Tattoo' Thing. It was a hot summer Monday evening. Harper would spend hours at Sulphur Springs Dance Studio on most days, but today was different. Mrs. Dunn usually drove Harper to the dance, but this time her best friend Matt did. Not really a problem, as long as the two got to their destination... we'll little did anyone freaking know, The 17-year-olds detoured to a tattoo shop in downtown Sulphur Springs. They were walking down the crumbling sidewalk, past numerous ancient storefronts.
"How dare you drag me into this?" "I could also get in trouble," Matt recalled
"Like Mrs. Caba would do anything to her 'Poor Little Matty,'" Harper snidely spoke. Matt sighed and rolled his eyes.
"What if we get caught?" Matt inquired, a little concerned.
"We're not. We'll be fine as long as we get back to the studio before Company rehearsals" Harper elaborated.
"And if we don't?"
"Might as well kiss the world goodbye," Harper sighed. Matt raised an eyebrow.
"I think this is it," Harper said, pausing her friends' actions.
"'Daddy's Tattoos'" Harper studied the sign on the door, confusedly. She gazed at her best friend.
"Ooh, Griffin's gonna be jealous" Matt chuckled.
Harper giggled as she opened the door. When the teenagers entered, they were shocked. There were a lot of old men with long beards all over the place. A buzzing sound filling the room. Harper regretted merely wearing a sports bra and shorts, which drew a lot of looks from several guys, particularly this one.
"Matt-"
"Just keep waking, Just keep waking," Matt encouraged his companion as he led her to the front desk.
A tall and large man emerged from the back. Harper and Matt clutched their hands together, terrified.
"What can I do for you two?" The man's voice was gruff and low.
"Um... "I'd like to get a tattoo." Harper stuttered.
The man took a good look at the two teenagers.
"You do realize the minimum age for getting a tattoo is 18 years old, right?"
Frick! She was only 17 years old.
"Pook is 18 years old" Matt lied. Harper cast a glance at him.
"All right," the man said, spectacle
"How many tattoos do you want?" asked the artist.
"One" Harper murmured
"Okay, tiny, small, medium, or large?" The man inquired.
"Small," Harper replied.
"OK, that'll be $65.99." The man tallied
Harper pulled out her debit card and handed it to the man. He swiped it and touched a few computer buttons before handing it back to her.
