Today was the day. The day I turned sixteen. The day I was finally allowed to go to Brookland High, a art academy.
"How's it going so far, Ryan?" My mom smiled at me, "excited to go to Brookland High next week?"
Taking a bite of my steak, I nodded. "Yeah. I'm finally old enough to be accepted as a Junior. I've finally made good enough grades academically." Brookland High only accepted B average students or higher. With a lot of effort on my part, I managed to get straight A's.
"Yeah, your father and I are really proud of you, Ryan" my mom smiled.
"It's my birthday, too, and I've had straight A's for years and no one praises me" my twin sister stuck her chin up in the air. We had matching brown hair, and brown eyes. However, I had a little black in my hair while she had a little red. Someone would think we dyed it, but we had been born like that.
"Happy birthday, Angela" my mom smiled. I finished the rest of my plate in seconds, while Angela still had half of her plate left. We just got our food a minute ago, too. Ever since I was one, I've always been a big eater and a quick one at that. Angela got full and was a slower eater than me. My dad blamed it on me being a growing boy.
I grabbed another plate and went to the table. I was already eating when suddenly my parents started looking at me funny. I gave them a questioning look.
"Ryan, look in the mirror" I finished off my food, before Angela even finished her food, and this was my fourth plate. My father held up the mirror in front of my face. I was curious as to why he wanted me to look in the mirror.
Looking in the mirror, I fell out of my chair. I starting running around the house, terrified. I wasn't even human! This can't be happening! From what I saw from my reflection, I had black and long fur.
In my run, I violently flapped my wings. Wait-I had wings? I stopped in a body mirror and examined myself again. I had mostly black fur, though my chest and stomach were white. Also I had splashed of brown in the back of my fur and tail. My paws were brown as well.
Still viewing my strange wings, I had black feathers that faded into broken and then into white tips. I looked odd. I was a winged wolf?
Taking my vision off the mirror, I looked to see a fox. A winged fox. She had little baby wings though. Her wings were red with black tips. Her fur was mostly red, though black outlined her eyes, toes, tail and muzzle.
I growled at her, and immediately she took off in a run. Almost as immediate, I chased after her.
Flapping my wings by accident, I smashed into things during the chase. She was laughing at me! I could just tell!
"Ryan, Angela, that is enough!" My father yelled. I stopped trying to paw at the dresser she was hiding under. She scooted a little closer, but didn't come out.
Looking out the window, I noticed a shadow looming over the building. Upon closer inspection, it was a dragon!
A strange man hopped off the dragon and walked to the door. My mom answered the door before he had a chance to knock. She looked a little sad about something.
"Is it time to take them already?" My mom asked sadly. Take us? Take us where?
I walked over to the man and growled at him. My instincts were telling me not to trust this man. He couldn't be much older than me.
"I'm afraid so. First we need to give them an explanation" he said and invited himself in against my protests. Angela walked out from where she was hiding and we all sat on a couch. I tried to be careful not to smash anything with my massive wings.
