Y/n hated the sound of crying. Especially children.
There was no particular reason, she thought. It was simply irritating, to say the least, and it certainly didn't do her headache any justice. Sighing, she sat down exhausted, giving up on cheering up the children.
Odasaku, everyone's beloved friend, just had to ask her to babysit his orphans, knowing she won't say no.
"Quit crying, Kevin and Sally." She sighed again, crossing her legs. Two of the kids suddenly stopped, looking at Y/n confused.
"It's actually Kosuke and Sakura..." The boy sniffed.
"Ah... whoops." She shook her head. "Quit crying Kosuke and Sakura." The kids wailed louder.
"Oh my god... Odasaku better come back soon or I might as well kill these kids myself." Pulling out her phone, she debated on who she should call to help her out.
Chuuya's good with kids... ah- but he's busy today...
Reluctantly, Y/n dialed Dazai's number.
It makes sense after all... right? I mean he's seen the kids before, and I don't think he's doing anything at the moment...
Right after the first ring, he picked up the phone. "What's the matter, Y/n?" Her heart skipped a beat.
"N-nothing really. Are you uh... busy at the moment...?" She fidgeted with her hands, nervous about his response for some reason.
"Not particularly..." He started. "Ah- but I did want to join a fun and new suicide trend... it's when you do Crossy Road out on the street, and you're supposed to get hit by a car on the third lane!" He mimicked a car crashing sound, boom!
"Ah... so you're busy..?" She mumbled, a bit disappointed. In return he hummed aloud, searching for an answer for her.
"Mm... What is it that you need? I can postpone my suicide plans if it's fun enough..."
A beat passes. "Did you want to ask me out on a date or what?"
"N-no! I just need some help babysitting Oda's kids..." She started to sweat, feeling a fluttering feeling in her stomach. What would he say? She heard him ponder hard on the other side of the line.
"Hmmm...... what do I get in return then?"
"Uh... I'll buy you a new rope...?"
"Booooooring. How about a date instead?" Y/n froze.
"A date...?" She heard Dazai snicker and then felt embarrassed. "Oh, that was one of your jokes right..."
"Ah no, I wasn't joking or anything. If I'm gonna watch these kids I better get a date out of it." He reassured her, getting ready to head over now. Her cheeks slightly reddened.
"See you then..." She hung up, dropping her head to her lap. Another kid patted her on the back.
"Are you okay, miss?" She turned to him and smiled. "Thank you, but I'm fine Marty."
He sweatdropped. "My name's Katsumi..."

Dazai arrived in fifteen minutes flat, despite living far from the curry house, in a secluded area of shipping containers. He made sure to make a pit stop to shower and clean himself up. He wasn't an animal of course, always trying to make himself presentable enough for Y/n whenever possible.
The door opens, revealing his tall silhouette.
"Y/n? I'm here now." No response. "Y/n?" Concerned, he went upstairs and into the bedroom, only to find five kids' bodies slumped on the floor, exhausted. Alongside them was a passed out Y/n.
