I knew it was inevitable to see him, but I didn't think I'd be going on a date with him.
"Yay you made it!" Amy grinned.
She gets up and gives me a hug and Peter gets up and come over to say hi as well.
Wes gets up and makes his way over to me.
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Mackenzie is that really you?" He asked.
I don't have to worry about him not recognizing me.
I smiled at him. "Hi Wes, good to see you."
His face morphs into a breathtaking smile and I'm instantly wrapped up in a hug.
Hello to you too.
"I can't believe you're here. It's so good to see you" He said.
"Wait a minute... You know each other?" Amy asked interrupting our hug and I'm thankful for that because this hug is giving me major butterflies.
Looks like 5 years of distance did nothing for my reaction to him.
Because of Allie we didn't have hugs like this, just platonic side hugs, we'll except for when I said goodbye to him when he left for the Pirates.
We break the hug, but Wes throws an arm over my shoulder.
I feel my stomach tightening up with nerves.
Oh boy.
I licked my lips. "Yeah, Wes and I were friends in college, he used to date my best friend Allie."
"Wow... talk about a small world. Well I know I won't have to worry about you guys having a bad time now" She said.
We all sit down and Wes pulls out my chair for me.
Still a gentleman.
Our waiter comes to our table and takes everyone's drink orders orders.
"Wow... I still can't believe you're here. How have you been Mackenzie?" He asked.
"I'm good, I actually just moved back home a few weeks ago."
"That's great. Where did you move from?" He asked.
"I moved from LA, I worked for the dodgers PR department."
He raised his eyebrows in surprise then grinned. "That's awesome Kenzie, I knew you could do it" He said.
I smile from his compliment and try my hardest not to blush. "Thanks."
Our waiter came back with our drinks and I took a greedy sip of my water feeling parched all of a sudden, but that probably has to do with the attractive man sitting across from me.
All these years of baseball have treated him well, and I definitely like the facial hair he's sporting, he sported a clean shaven look in college.
