I go through the boxes just to make sure we have all the merchandise we need.
We have t shirts, pictures of each player for them to sign for fans, squishy baseballs that are basically stress balls, and Marlins bandanas for people who adopt any dogs today.
Everyone is excited, especially the guys.
Fundraisers were always my favorite to plan and I'm even more excited because I never did ones with pets before.
The shelter that I contacted has quite a few dogs that haven't been adopted so they're hoping this extra exposure will get the word out and hopefully they meet their forever person.
I grab a box to take out to my car, but I'm stopped by one of my favorite people.
He grinned. "Hey, need some help?" He asked.
"Yeah, thanks."
"No problem" He said.
He walks over to grab 2 of the boxes that make his biceps strain the sleeves of his t shirt.
Yum.
He smirked. "Quit staring, we got things to do, but maybe later I can give you a show" He teased.
"Shut up" I muttered.
He chuckles but helps me bring the boxes to my car.
"Oh yeah, I went to lunch with Allie earlier this week" He said stunning me.
And here we go.
I brace for impact. "Oh yeah, how'd that go?"
"Pretty good actually. It was nice to catch up" He said.
Ok, but are you gonna get back together?
"That's good."
"Yeah" He said.
We walk back into my office to grab the other boxes to bring to my car.
He stops me from moving by gently grabbing my elbow to turn me around to him.
"I know you want to know what happened so ask away" He said.
Am I that transparent?
"Ok, are you guys working on getting back together?"
He stepped closer and looked into my eyes. "No. We're not going to get back together. I don't feel anything for her besides friendship and she feels the same way" He said.
Holy shit.
I could cry from the amount of relief or, hell I don't even know the emotion, but all I know is I'm happy that we possibly have a chance at being together.
Right now all I wanna do is kiss him and I can guarantee he can see it on my face, but I before I do anything, I have to talk to Allie.
