The chapters usually range from 3200 – 3800 words. From now on, every chapter that has more than 3800 words will be marked accordingly to give you guys a heads up on how long it is going to take <3. This is still a normal chapter, though. Just wanted to give a heads up.
The early morning sun had already rolled over Sweet City, casting the still sleepy town in a mixture of warm oranges and pale blues, courtesy of the last few rays of the moon that were still conquering the bright star, by the time your body decided to wake up from its slumber.
Slowly sitting up on your bed and letting the comfiest blankets you had ever slept in gather in your lap, the soft chirping of passing birds greeting you from the outside accompanied your movements.
Your vision was still hazy from sleep when you proceeded to take a quick glance around the room, and upon realising that Katakuri was nowhere to be seen, a small frown furrowed your eyebrows. His large figure wasn't leaning against the wall anymore and he was also nowhere else to be found. He couldn't have been hiding anywhere else in the room since the sheer size of your new husband made him difficult to miss.
Where was he?
Holding your breath, you perked up your ears and tried to make out whether there was any sound coming from the bathroom. The running of a faucet, the soft drips of the shower or the shuffling of feet.
Nothing.
Was it all a bad dream?
A bright light suddenly blinded you, making your still tired eyes ache. With an annoyed groan pushing past your lips, you shut your eyes instinctively before you carefully opened one again to peek at the object that had rudely reflected the morning light into your face.
There it sat, snuggly fitted around your finger. A beautiful gold ring with a large magenta ruby set right at the top.
So, it wasn't.
Falling back on the bed and sending your hair to fan across the pillow, a long sigh echoed through the room as you stared up at the ceiling that was freakishly far away from you. You stayed in bed for a little longer with your body sprawled across the large mattress, enjoying the serenity of solitude and soaking up the peace of the morning until a low grumble in your stomach forced you out of bed.
Food, right.
You hadn't eaten anything since yesterday's cake and unlike Big Mom, you couldn't base your entire diet on sweets and stuck to only one piece.
Getting out of bed, you quickly made your way into the closet to throw on a comfortable pair of jeans and a shirt before you went back into the room.
"Wiwiwiwiwi, I see you are awake."
You felt your soul leave your body as the sudden laugh echoed through the room, duetted by an ear-piercing scream from your side. You hadn't heard anyone enter the room and you were sure you hadn't missed anyone in the room before, either. Snapping your head from side to side so quickly you were amazed your head hadn't flown off, your eyes eventually settled on Brûlée snickering at your misfortune through the mirror in your vanity.
"Brûlée!" you yelled as you watched the woman grin at you from the other side of the mirror. Much to your frustration, the glare you attempted to shoot her looked more like a pout than anything else as the leftover shock still prevented you to get full control over your facial muscles. It was entirely too early to be scared shitless and then be expected to function.
