"Urrgh." You groan, moaning as light streams in your window. You turn over and try to shut it out. Not even the Underground respects sleep schedules. You groggily get dressed and go to the kitchen. Toriel had made breakfast, pancakes with syrup. "There, my child." She said, putting a steaming pile of pancakes on the plate in front of you. "You're going to have a big day today."
That's what your parents would say to you, when you were a kid. Toriel treats you as if you are still that little kid, but you don't mind at all. It's starting to make up for those years you had to spend as the adult in your life. Toriel continues, "I know that you are around sixteen, so I feel you are responsible enough to go and visit Snowdin by yourself. After all, if you're going to live here, you should know the area." This catches you by surprise. You never really considered if you were going to stay here or leave. From the love you've received so far, you're pretty sure you're going to stay. You finish breakfast quickly, and rushed upstairs to put on your favorite sweater. You hugged Toriel goodbye and exited the Ruins.
Walking in Snowdin reminded you of Christmas, when you walked through your town and gazed at the soft lights that illuminated evergreens, toy trains on tracks, and candy canes in every store window. And then, as you're catching snowflakes in your palm, ("How does it even snow down here?" you think.) You realize you forgot your disguise. "Aw, crud." You mutter to yourself. You don't know what happens to humans down here, but with their history with monster, you don't think it's going to be anything good. Luckily, the monsters are having too much fun shopping, making snow monsters, and throwing snowballs to pay attention to you. You quietly open the doors to the library and try to conceal the fact that you're a human. Well, THAT doesn't last long, because soon a different skeleton strides in through the doors.
"HELLO, MRS. GERANI, HELLO MS. HURNS! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, HAVE STOPPED FOR ANOTHER ADDITION OF JUNIOR JUMBLE!"
One of the monsters with glasses looks over at the skeleton. You look over too. He's pretty tall, much taller than Sans, who is just your height. He wore some kind of superhero cosplay, with big boots and a scarf that he used as a cape. You smile at the happiness he is sending out. And then, he turns around to face you. Just your luck you picked the shelf that this seven foot skeleton's book was on. "IS... THAT A HUMAN?!?!?!?" Dang it. You try to run around him and escape the library, when he grabs you by the waist and hoists you up like a football. "FINALLY! I CAN PRESENT THIS HUMAN TO UNDYNE! THEN I'LL JOIN THE ROYAL GUARD! COME WITH ME, HUMA- CAPTIVE!"
"Oh dear lord, I'm dead." You shakily sigh, as the rest of Snowdin passes in a blur. Papyrus is still holding you like a football, and running with you at top speed. If you hadn't been terrified for you mortal life, this would have been one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to you. Well. besides falling into a realm of monsters. Soon, you reach a cute little house with lazily strung Christmas lights. "SANS!" Papyrus yells. "I TOLD YOU TO PUT UP THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS! NOT TO JUST THROW THEM ON THE ROOF!" The front door swings open, and you see Sans standing there. "Sans? Are you okay?" For the first time since you met him, his voice is actually at a level that doesn't burst your eardrums. Sans immediately puts on a fake smile and says, "Yeah bro. Guess I'm just a lazy bones." But you can tell that he's lying. He's moving like he doesn't care about what happens to him, his eyes are still filled with depression, and he looks like he wants this to stop. Like he's doubting everything he does. His pun is forced, and his smile is, too. But Papyrus doesn't notice this and looks like he is about to explode.
