"Alright I'll see what I can do." Dottore finally retracted his hand from my face.
"I can't make you any promises. Theres no guarantee anything I'll try will be able to fix it, but I'll definitely do more than that asshole in the church did."
A soft smile fell upon my face and I nodded.
"Thank you..."
"You're welcome." He whispered.
For a moment we just stared at one another.
Dottore awkwardly coughed, "Anyways. It's going to take me some time to make something. I have a few things we can try but I need to collect a few herbs first. Are you busy?"
I shook my head.
"Good then you can come with me. Let's go."
I could hear as his footsteps headed for the front door and I followed closely behind him.
Never in my wildest dreams had I ever thought I'd get the chance to see again.
I was so very happy right now. I know Dottore said he couldn't make any promises but the idea that he'd try made my heart warm.
He had come across as cold when I had first met him but after spending some time with him I realized that wasn't all there was. Dottore was a kind man he had just been hurt badly by others.
If I were in his situation I don't think I'd be able to trust people either.
Theres no guarantee that I'm not in a similar situation though. I wasn't sure who my parents were or what had happened to them. For all I knew they could have been murdered just the same. But who knows for all I knew they were also still alive living happily somewhere...
I took in a small breath.
No.
It was time to think about hopeful things.
I followed Dottore for awhile eventually I no longer recognized the terrain we were in.
Stumbling over a root on the ground I bumped right into Dottores back.
"Mmph!"
Dottore stopped.
"Sorry." I whispered grasping onto his back.
I steadied myself and then let go of him.
I heard as Dottores feet shuffled and his warm hand grabbed mine.
"Just don't let go."
My heart thumped and I nodded my head.
Dottores hand squeezed mine and he continued onward.
I followed behind him. My cheeks felt warmer than before. He gave me small warnings about the ground as we went. Of course even with the warnings I still managed to stumble but it was better than trying to navigate it on my own.
We must have been going deeper into the forest.
I traced my free hand along passing trees and shrubs. There was a lot more greenery in this part much closer together as well.
"We're getting close." Dottore said finally speaking up.
"What exactly are we looking for?" I asked.
"Ah I'm not sure the exact name but its a flower. Its not the flower itself we need but the parts growing on it."
"I see."
We continued on for a bit longer before Dottore stopped.
"There it is." He said with a bit more excitement.
He tugged at my hand and we moved quicker than before.
Dottore stopped and letting go of my hand I listened as he moved around.
"You're in luck. There's quite a bit of what I need here. Though I should warn you mixing this up may take awhile. I still have more things to collect but it won't be happening today. Its getting late now."
I looked up at the sky.
The day had gone by quickly since I had found Dottore.
I hope it wasn't too dark out otherwise Candace might start to worry. The last thing I needed was her going out to look for me. There was no way I could explain what I was doing with Dottore.
My stomach sank at the thought.
Though I could not see the sky I could feel the wind growing colder and a new scent had arose in the air.
"It smells like rain is coming..."
Not just rain a bad storm.
I could feel Dottores stare.
He let out a sigh, "Yea alright then lets get out of here."
There was some more shuffling before he grasped my hand once more.
