At lunch, Mikey and Pete where having some kind of staring contest. Not like their trying to intimidate one another but like their looking for something in each other's pupils. "Am I missing something?" I ask, then took a small sip out of my milk carton. They immediately look away from each other to me.
I was trying to hold back a smile cause I knew exactly what was going on. Though neither would ever admit it. Mikey shot me a glare of hatred then picked up his fork and started to push is broccoli around the tray timidly. Pete glanced between me and Mikey then his eyes widened like he had just realized something huge.
Just then Lindsey's friend Patrick walked over and placed a small kiss on Petes cheek then sat down in the empty seat next to Him. "Hey guys." We all kinda just stared at him for a moment except for Pete, he kept his gaze on the table like he was avoiding Mikey and I, or maybe just Mikey...I finally got my voice back to squeak out.
"Hey. P-Patrick. What's up." I looked at Pete for answers, but he didn't even look up to acknowledge my silent pleas.
"So you guys?" Mikey asked slowly, his voice going back to his usual monotone.
"Yeah. We're together." Pete finally clarified.
"Cool." Me and Mikey said in unison. Mikey got up and left like he was in a hurry. I felt bad.
Patrick is a nice guy and all, but I never really envisioned them together. Patrick was innocent. Everything about him was just soft and gentle. His round face always had a smile that shaped his full cheeks. The shiny sandy brown hair was so light and fluffy as it transferred into light sideburns on the sides of his face. Patrick was overall a nice caring individual with a soul voice mean t for solos. He's the reason people come to school plays and concerts.

"So were you just not gonna tell me?" I asked as Pete and I walked to out next class. I tried not to sound upset at the fact he kept it from me. Though, I'm keeping it from him."I don't know man. To be fair, we haven't been friends for that long." He argued.
"Fine, I'll make it even. You're gay, I'm gay. We both kept it from each other." It took a whole lot of courage to actually say the words and my lungs squeezed as the aftermath hit.
"You're gay?" Pete looked baffled.
"Yeah." I said, suddenly feeling shy and awkward. He shook his head smiling. "What?"
"It's just I feel like there's a high chance that Mikey's gay too." He chuckled.
"Maybe." I wanted to bring up the Star gazing they were doing in each others eyes, but the topic might me sensitive considering he's with Patrick not Mikey. "Wait, why would you care?" I wanted Pete to admit to his crush on Mikey on his own accord, but that's not happening.
"I don't! I just find it humorous that the gays are hanging together." He defended.
"Ha right!" I accidentally snickered. He shot me a glare.
"Sorry." I said, covering up my laughs with subtle coughs.
"Whatever." Pete fumed.
"Hey Frank, Pete." Lindsey approached from behind.
"What's up?" I turned to face the bright girl.
"Nothing really. So Pete, Patrick told me what happened."
"I don't need a responsibility speech Lynz." Pete sassed, like this situation was annoyingly reoccurring.
"You said you'd stop this. Not only for me, but for Pat. We're both getting tired of your lies. We've been your friend for awhile and you might have Frank to lean back on but that's kinda unfair to us!"
"What's going on here?" I bud in.
"Nothing!" Pete snapped.
"Pete relapsed." Lindsey informed.
Their words overlapped, filled with anger and annoyance for one another.
"Pete." Was all I could speak. It was a mixture of confusion and disappointment.
"Great, now everyone is going to be on my ass about it."
"Calm down, tell me what happened?" I pleaded. I didn't want him to see us as the enemy right now. All I want is to understand.
"Withdraw is more painful than you realize! I'm sorry, I just wasn't strong enough. I'm just as mad at myself as you are believe it or not!" He exclaimed. "I-I feel pathetic." His voice grew small and right now was not a good time to have this conversation. Though, I think the last thing we expected was for pets to cry.
