As the next week went by, Alya and her friends had been going to Snape's classroom during their lunch breaks and after dinner everyday in order to help Alya prepare her for when her powers start to rise on her 18th birthday. They were there for the whole of Sunday and had been practising different spells and charms. Alya insisted that Snape taught her friends some defence spells too 'just in case.' Snape helped Alya focus on a certain memory, and a certain emotion and he taught her how to control the emotion with the help of the memory. He taught them all how to produce a patronus charm, Alya's patronus was a rabbit which she found extremely cute. Draco could never produce a patronus charm, however, and would refuse to take part in it during their sessions with Snape and the others.

Alya's birthday was on the 7th October, which was a Saturday that year. By Friday, Alya was terrified. Although she had been practising spells and control all week and had gotten really good at it, she was still incredibly scared for what was going to come, but she didn't let it show. After they had finished their training session for that day, they were all going to go to their common room for a while.

"I'll catch you guys up,okay?" Alya told her friends as they all nodded and left the room.

"You okay, sweetheart?" asked Snape when they were alone. "I know this is probably really hard for you but you're doing so well. I think you might even be fully prepared,"

"I'm definitely not!" exclaimed Alya. "I still have no idea what I'm doing!"

"You do, Alya." said Snape, softly. "You can't see how well you're doing. You are completely ready, even if you don't feel it. Trust me, I went through this with your mother and she couldn't do half the things you can at this age!"

"I'm just scared, dad" sniffled Alya. "I'm not ready for all this power, I'm just a kid still"

"You're not a kid anymore, Alya" smiled Snape. "You are a beautiful young adult. Just because you have all this power doesn't mean you need to use it. No one needs to know, it's better that way anyway. Safer."

"No, i know." said Alya. "it's only my friends that know and a couple of Hermione's friends. Some people know that I'm your daughter because of my last name but no one else knows the full story. Other than Dumbledore and probably Sprout. I wouldn't use this power in a negative way, but if i'm worried that i'll get too angry and accidentally hurt someone,"

"Listen, I may have been out of your life for 12 years," said Snape, holding Alya's hand. "But you're my daughter, and I know you. There isn't a bad or malicious bone in your body. If you get angry and hurt someone, I know that you would have a valid reason behind it. You're not a bully, you don't hurt people for the fun of it. You're overprotective because you love so hard, you get it from your mother. I admire that about you," he smiled.

"That's true I guess," she said, smiling up at him. "I'm so glad I found you, dad"

"Me too, love" smiled Snape, pulling Alya in for a hug and kissing the top of her head. "Come and see me tomorrow at 4:30pm. I have a present for you,"

"You didn't have to do that," said Alya.

"Of course I did, I'm your father." said Snape. "Now go and get some rest, you have a big day tomorrow"

"See you tomorrow" Alya smiled as she walked out of Snape's classroom. As she walked down the hallway and turned the corner, to her surprise, her friends were waiting there for her. She gasped when she saw them.

"What? You didn't think we'd actually leave you on your own, did you?" laughed Mattheo.

Alya chuckled at her friends and linked arms with Pansy as they walked to the slytherin common room together. They sat on their usual sofas talking to each other quietly about their training session.
