The day should have felt ordinary.

It didn't.

Still not after almost a week since the change.

Every time I looked at Mattheo, I remembered the feeling of his lips against mine.

I remembered the way his hands held my waist.

I remembered the look in his eyes afterwards, like he was still trying to convince himself that it had actually happened.

And now I had to sit through an entire morning pretending that nothing had changed.

Which would have been considerably easier if Mattheo wasn't making it so difficult.

We had barely stepped into the corridor when I caught him looking at me again.

It was quick. So quick that nobody else would have noticed.

But I did.

His eyes met mine from across the corridor and the smallest smile appeared at the corner of his mouth before he turned away again, continuing his conversation with Theo as if he hadn't just made my heart stumble inside my chest.

I looked down, biting back a smile.

This was going to be a problem.

A very big one.

By the time we reached the classroom, I had managed to convince myself that I could behave normally.

I could sit through a lesson, take notes, answer questions if I had to and not spend every second wondering when I would see him again.

That plan lasted approximately three minutes.

Mattheo sat a few seats away from me, close enough that I could see him whenever I looked up. He didn't do anything obvious. He didn't need to.

Every now and then, his gaze found mine.

Sometimes it lingered.

Sometimes his mouth twitched like he was trying not to smile.
