I couldn't get to her fast enough. It would only take a matter of seconds for Betty to plunge the knife into Vicky's chest. I couldn't cover that ground quick enough. There was to much space between us.With no other options, I lifted my sword above my head and launched it at her. It spun through the air as she brought her arm down.
The blade punched through her chest just as her dagger came down into Vicky's.
"No!" I yelled, running towards them as fast as I could.
Betty collapsed to the floor as I got there, my sword sticking out of her chest.
Her dagger mirrored that in Vicky's chest.
Vicky's eyes went wide, blood leaking from her lips. "Liv..."
I quickly untied her before taking her hand, tears welling in my eyes. "Vicky... Stay with me... Please..."
Vicky's eyes turned to me, a slight smile spreading on her lips. "I told you... I wouldn't be alone..."
Then, she went limp in my arms.
The tears leaked from my eyes as I rested my head on her chest, her hand still firmly gripped in mine. "No..."
I stood up, taking one last look at her, before my eyes shot over to the book, which sat on top of a small table behind us.
Without thinking, I quickly grabbed it and started flipping through its pages. I needed to find a transfer spell. If I was quick enough, I might still be able to save her.
I stopped on a page and ran my fingers along the text, finding exactly what I was looking for. It was a spell that might just be capable of transferring my immortality to her. What it would mean for me, I wasn't sure. But, I had to try.
I stood over Vicky, reading the words aloud. A dead language. A language that hasn't been spoken in centuries.
I finished the spell just as Robin was beginning to stir.
She struggled against her restraints. "Liv..? What the hell is going on? Where are we?"
Before I could answer, I felt something deep inside me. Something I've never felt before. A pain like no other.
I fell to my knees, letting out a scream as a burning sensation formed in my chest, swirling it's way up my neck. The pain was almost unbearable, until a ghostly fog started leaking from my mouth, followed soon after by a bright, white light bursting from my eyes.
I looked up as the two elements danced around each other in the air, slowly finding their way through Vicky's nose.
I finally collapsed as the last of the pain ran out of my body. My chest felt hollow, my breathing unnecessary. I felt weak but, somehow, at ease.
My eyes slowly rose, landing on Vicky's still lifeless frame.
I slowly crawled towards her, using the table to help me stand, seeing the color starting to return to her pale skin.
"Liv!" Robin yelled. "What the hell was that!?"
I ignored her, my thoughts were only on one thing and one thing alone.
"C'mon, Vicky. Wake up..." I took her hand in mine again.
That's when I noticed cracks starting to form on my skin, a dull light shinning out from beneath them.
"What's happening to you..?" Robin asked.
"Please... Wake up, my love..." I pleaded, the cracks spreading from my hand, stretching the length of my body.
