A/N: Really quickly, sorry for not posting for about a week. I do have a lot pre-written, but I went to West Virginia for a competition and didn't bring my laptop with me since I knew I wouldn't really be able to use it. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter!

The following morning I rolled myself out of bed at around 4AM and made myself some food. I had a light breakfast, regardless of Kakashi Sensei's words, and packed a bit more food for the team just in case. I still got ready for the day the same way I usually would, just skipping my daily shower so I could take one after training. Today I chose to put my hair up in a ponytail, hoping to keep my hair out of the way. Once I got to the training grounds, everyone else was just arriving. Sasuke and I seemed to be the only ones who weren't tired. We waited for hours, but I wasn't complaining because it gave me more time to read my book. Gabriel is my favorite so far. The sun had risen completely by the time Kakashi Sensei had shown up.

"Morning everyone, ready for your first day?" Kakashi Sensei asked with a small wave.

"Morning, Sensei." I said, lowering my book slightly to look at him.

"Hey, you're late!" Sakura and Naruto yelled.

"Well, a black cat crossed my path, so I had to take the long way." He closed his one eye in a smile, making an excuse for his tardiness.

Naruto and Sakura were not at all impressed. Naruto grumbled as Sensei spoke.

"Well, ahem, let's get started." He walked to the side. He turned on a timer on a log. "There we go. It's set for noon."

Naruto tilted his head ever so slightly as Kakashi took out three bells from his pocket. I put my book away and dusted myself off before looking at him.

"Your assignment is very simple. You just have to take these bells from me. That's all there is to it." He jingled the bells. "If you can't get the bells by noon, you go without lunch."

"Wha?" Naruto complained.

"You'll be tied to those posts and you'll watch while I eat my lunch in front of you."

The rest of my team looked as if they were starving, and I rubbed my head sheepishly, feeling guilty for being the only person to eat breakfast.

"Wait a minute, there's four of us. How come there's only three bells?" Sakura asked.

"Well that way, at least one of you will end up tied to a post, and ultimately disqualified for failing to complete the mission. That one goes back to the academy." That seemed to up everyone's determination to get a bell. "Then again, all three of you could flunk out too. You can use any weapon including shuriken. If you're not prepared to kill me, you won't be able to take the bells."

"Those weapons are too dangerous Sensei!" Sakura protested. Naruto laughed, gaining my attention.

"Especially because you couldn't even dodge that eraser."

"Class clowns are usually the weakest links. You can safely ignore them. The lowest scores. Losers." Kakashi's comment hit a nerve with Naruto. "When I say start, you can begin."

Naruto pulled a kunai knife out of his pocket and charged at Kakashi Sensei, who quickly dodged it and pinned Naruto's arm behind his head, pointing the Kunai at his neck.

"Don't be in such a hurry. I didn't say start yet." Naruto grunted while Kakashi held his arm back. I have to admit, Kakashi Sensei's tone was attractive. I blinked. That was a bad way to think. He's my teacher for God's sake. Sakura and Sasuke took a few steps back, and Kakashi Sensei pushed Naruto forward.

"But, you came at me with the full intention of destroying me. So... how can I say this? I'm actually starting to like you guys." Naruto smiled at Kakashi's compliment, "get ready. And... start."

We all jumped into the bushes, and I immediately went to find the others. I know exactly what kind of test this is, and I need to get the rest of the team to work with me so we can all get the bells.

I found Sakura first, and crouched next to her watching the fight between Naruto and Kakashi Sensei.

"Sakura, I need you to listen to me." I whispered, "this isn't a normal survival test. He's purposefully setting us against each other. The test he's given us is based on teamwork."

"Dream on, Asaca. Why on earth would I work with you?" She whispered back. I sighed and went to find Sasuke, and I explained the same thing to him, but he went on about how I'll only get in his way. So, I walked out of the trees and sat against one of the polls, taking out my novel.

Kakashi Sensei looked at me strangely as he approached me.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Reading. I've already figured out that the only way we can beat you and get any of the bells is to work together. This exercise is about teamwork. Unfortunately for me, my team is more concerned about making sure they get the bells for themselves and refuse to work with me."
"And how did you figure that out?" I looked up at him as he said that.

"It was pretty easy. Anyone with a brain could've figured it out. You used the missing bell as a way to pose everyone else on the team as our enemy, then gave the possibility of all of us flunking to hint at working together. It was quite clever." I looked back down at my book, flipping the page.

Sensei tilted his head slightly before he answered me.

"Smart. Why don't you try to get one for yourself? Consider this you showing me your current skills."

"I guess. Man, just when the book was getting good, too." I stood up and pocketed the book, jumping back into the trees onto a higher branch. As silently as possible, I hopped to a tree on the other side of the training grounds to get a better angle. Then Kakashi went back to his book just as two shuriken came flying out of the water. Kakashi Sensei caught them on his fingers, still not looking up from his book. Naruto fought Kakashi Sensei for a few minutes, and when he was "distracted", Sasuke threw several shuriken at him, lodging in his body. Sensei then poofed into a log, meaning he used a substitution jutsu.

Sasuke and Sakura dashed into the trees, so I followed suit. I found a nice little clearing and laid down, crossing my legs. After about 20 minutes, I heard a jingle, followed by an all too familiar voice.

"092... I finally found you." Doctor E.

I was frozen. That voice was unmistakable, but... shouldn't he be dead?

"So now you're speechless?" He said. Slowly, I sat up, looking directly into the eyes of the man responsible for 14 years of pain and loss.

"What are you doing here, Doctor E?" My voice came out in more of a whisper than I wanted it to. The doctor's lips peeled back into a twisted grin that made my stomach fill with knots.

"Well, I've come to take you back of course."

"No."

I stood up.

Looking directly at him, I stood up and pulled one of my custom knives from my kunai pouch around my leg.

"I'm not scared of your little toy, 092. Let us go."

"It's not you that this is for, Doctor." The blade of the knife pressed against my neck as I lifted my arm. It wasn't enough to draw blood, but just enough to prove my point. "I'm not just another number for your twisted games, Doctor, but I am willing to destroy all of your progress. All of your work on the one living angel." He actually faltered, taking a slight step back before he poofed into smoke.

Shit.

A/n: I know this one is shorter, but I cut it there for dramatic effect. I promise the second part will be out in a few minutes.
