A/N: This has angst in it, I'm so sorry if it's not that good, but stick with me here.
I closed the door behind me as I stepped into my apartment, falling against the door and sliding to the floor, my head on my knees with my hands wrapped around my head. Tears started to fall from my eyes as their whispers filled my ears and clouded my brain. My breathing was ragged, my heart racing. It felt as if the walls were closing in and I were being compressed by something. My vision blurred as I slowly raised my head, looking at the room in front of me. All the lights were off, but I could see their ghosts hovering nearby, taunting me with their whispers and laughter. Kaito came the closest, his face looking as if it were scribbled out.
"You could have saved me. You left me alone, Asaca..." His voice was cold and raspy. "I'm dead and it's your fault." His hair was messy, the ends of his pink hair red and wet with blood, his chest a gaping hole where his heart and lungs should've been, but simply weren'tA scream died in the back of my throat as Iko floated over to me, her neck in tatters, her stomach ripped open and an eye hanging out of her socket.
"You could have saved me. I didn't want to fight alone. You could've made the deal, but you stayed on the sidelines and watched as I got killed. It's your fault, Asaca. Do you know how much it hurts to be let down by someone you trusted with your life?" I shook my head violently, my hands forming into fists as I hit the sides of my head as if it would shake the images away.
"No! No!" I screamed, snapping my eyes shut. When everything went silent, I opened my eyes again. They were gone. It was just an illusion... again.Tears continued to fall as I felt someone knock on the door. I managed to pull myself together enough to answer the door, although it was obvious I had just been crying. It was an understatement to say I was surprised when I saw Kakashi Sensei at the door.
"Kakashi Sensei...?" His only showing eye widened when he saw the state I was in. Red eyes, messed up hair, tear stained cheeks."I... I'm sorry." He hesitated for a moment, reaching a hand out. "Can I... come in?" I nodded slowly, opening the door fully and turning on the lights.
"Why are you here, Sensei?" I sounded more tired than anything.
"I told the Hokage what happened at the training grounds today. After I told him about the genjutsu... he sent me to check on you. I see why, now." As he spoke, I avoided eye contact, which was strange for me.
"It wasn't the genjutsu... you're fine." I said, turning on the kettle for tea. "It was just something you said while at the memorial stone, that's all."
This certainly caught his attention, and his eye softened as he looked at me.
"What happened, Asaca?" He asked. I stayed quiet for a while, pouring two cups of tea.
"My friends are on there too. And it's my fault." I whispered, a small quiver in my voice. "I left them. I had to watch it." I placed my hands against the counter after putting the kettle down, my shoulders shaking as I tried to keep myself from crying. Kakashi Sensei stayed silent, but walked over and put a hand on my shoulder. When I looked at him he simply shook his head.
"It wasn't your fault, Asaca." He whispered.
"You don't even know what happened." I said, pushing a mug of tea over to him.
"Then tell me."
"Not yet... I can't trust you yet." He seemed mildly hurt by my words, but nodded. When I looked away from him, he pulled me into a hug. It was brief, but pleasant.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Asaca." With that, he left, walking out the door and closing it behind him.

The night passed by fairly quickly after that. I drank my tea and climbed into bed, curled into a ball before falling asleep. I didn't want Kakashi Sensei to feel like it was his fault, but I also wasn't sure if I could trust him yet. Regardless, I pulled myself out of bed the following day and took a shower before heading to the meeting point for our mission. Nothing all that exciting, but we were handed radios for communication and then went to find this woman's cat.
"Sasuke, I'm in point B."
"Sakura, I'm at point C."
"Naruto, I'm at point A. Believe it.""Asaca, I'm at point D."
"You're slow, Naruto." Kakashi Sensei started. "Okay, Squad Seven. Hm? The target has moved! Follow it!"
