Kenny POV
"So, Bu-Marjorine" I said, almost slipping up but she looked at me kindly none the less. "What do you want to do?" She smiled at me, I think she was enjoying the Marjorine and she/her thing so far. "Let's go hangout by Starks Pond, we can find our own version of the C+T tree." She replied, "But just as f-friends!" I chuckled a bit and nodded as we hopped back in my old shitty truck.
"Do you want to put M+K? or B+K?" I asked, curious.
"B+K sounds like burger king so, M+K sounds better."
"Heh, it does, doesn't it?"
We drove through the bustling streets, I guess Thursdays are busy now. Marjorine stuck her head out the sunroof as we drove through the cold air, she was so enchanting even if she still looked like Butters. As we reached Starks Pond, I took her hand as she climbed out of the car, I reached into the back and grabbed my pocketknife.
We walked through the quiet woods, just chatting with each other about school and gossip and dikinbaus. At some point I grabbed her hand, she didn't shake me off or anything, she just grasped it back. I grinned at her as she babbled on about Cartman's latest antics. "Hey Marj?" I asked as we continued walking, now along the edge of the water. "Yeah?" She answered. "What do you want your future to look like?" I said, looking out at the water. I recalled dying in there one time, but quickly brushed that thought away.
"I think I'd want to run some kind of business out of my home while being a housewife, like a woman should be" I forgot that Butters always had a bit of misogynistic views, so Marjorine would too. "You know you don't have to be a housewife; you can have any job you want. That's what my families always told Karen." Marj looked at me with a bit of a confused look but just nodded. "My parents always told me women should stay home and look after the house."
"Well, your parents aren't the best role models over all" I said with a light laugh. "At least mums going to try." She spoke. We stayed silent as we looked over the pond, both of us just thinking. "Follow me" I said, walking towards the woods. Marjorine followed cautiously behind me.
We walked along a path until I reached the certain tree I was looking for and started walking into the wilderness. "Ken, shouldn't we stay on the path?" She asked from the path behind me. I turned to her and held my hand out "Do you trust me?" I asked her. She stared at me for a few moments, looking between my hand and my eyes before stepping forward and taking my hand.
We walked through the brush and the trees until we reached the clearing that I was looking for. It was a small gap in the trees where grass and wildflowers grew, with a big willow sitting nearby, its flowers dotting the branches as it went into season. I heard Marjorine gasp behind me as we reached it. I dropped her hand and walked into the middle of the clearing and just fell over onto my back.
I closed my eyes as the sun hit me and I just listened to the sounds of nature before hearing slight rustling and a few light thuds beside me as she lay beside me. "This is beautiful Ken." She stated, gazing at the blue sky above us, minimal clouds up there. "Yeah, I come here when I'm the most emotional" I replied.
"Like what?" She asked.
"Promise you will not laugh."
"I promise."
"I die almost every day, or I used to, I avoid it better nowadays." I said, avoiding looking at her for fear that she's smiling or silently laughing. "That must be terrible" was all she said as we continued to stare at the sky. I nodded silently, but grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
"I feel it every time, I relive the more traumatic deaths often. They eat into my nightmares and the worse thing is, they're almost never my fault. No one remembers or really cares if they do" I said, now turning my head to look at her. She continued staring into the sky. "Not even you remember it, I swear this is the truth though. It's because my parents joined some cult for the booze while pregnant with me, and I don't know what happened other than that something happened.
She now turned her head to look at me, sympathy in her eyes. "I understand if you don't believe me, no one does because they don't remember. I shot myself in the head to prove it to Kyle and he didn't remember it." I sighed, relieved to finally say it to someone. She squeezed my hand and kissed me on the cheek. I turned my head to watch her as she got up and offered me her hand.
Once I was up, she engulfed me in a big hug. "I believe you" Despite being a small statement, that meant the world to me. I couldn't even cry, but I wanted to. We stayed like that for a while before I pulled away. I flicked out my pocketknife.
"Pick a tree m'lady" I said, she walked over to the tree directly across from the willow. I just smiled and walked over, carving an M and a K into the tree before placing a heart around it. "Romantic or not, it's us forever" I said to her, before kissing her on the cheek.
