droplets of rain tapped the window repeatedly. the sun was just shining, it's amazing how things change so quickly. some students were running home as fast as they could, and other students were having fun in the rain whether it was with friends or with their lovers.

saihara watched everyone from the classroom window. they sighed, their breath showing as they exhaled.

'winter is coming.' he thought. shuichi watched as his friends were smiling and having fun, akamatsu waved at them from below. saihara smiled, waving back.

today, shuichi was on cleaning duty. their partner for today, yonaga, was nowhere to be found. but he was fine doing all the work. when in the mood, saihara enjoys cleaning.

but what he didn't enjoy was how cold it was inside the classroom.

stepping away from the window, shuichi began to sweep the floor. the rain droplets were his only company, as well as the clocks' ticking sound.

'16:00. i have an hour...that isn't so bad.'

saihara put in an earbud, playing music, and resumed.

saihara shuichi was a good kid. many admired him, well—those in their class. otherwise; shuichi was just a normal kid to anyone else—sometimes even a bully target. yet, he had three great friends; momota kaito, akamatsu kaede, and harukawa maki. everyone else in class respected him, was nice to him, and all of the above.

they're also the ultimate detective like his teacher, kirigiri kyoko. that came in handy, as she takes him to crime scenes as her assistant sometimes.

he also has a small crush.

okay, a huge crush.

rumor has it that it's kaede, and while saihara deeply admired her as her best friend—it wasn't akamatsu.
in fact, it's someone who would always be the last guess.

because of this, shuichi hasn't told anyone. plus, it was better to keep to themself anyway with their own secrets.

saihara shivered from the temperature inside the classroom. he didn't bring an umbrella either, how embarrassing...

'hopefully the rain will stop by the time i'm done.'

*CRASH*

'what the hell was that?' shuichi thought. it came from the hallway but he was scared to check. should be also noted that saihara is a scaredy-cat.

they slid the door open and popped their head out of the classroom. looking left and right, the hallway was empty. the lightbulbs flickered on and off, shuichi went back inside and slid the door closed.

'no one else should be here besides club members and others on cleaning duty. even then, they shouldn't be in the hallway either unless they're leaving. ...maybe something fell, i'm sure someone else will get it.'

so, he went back to sweeping.

the dust made them sneeze, stepping back and hitting a desk.
