How Ben and I met is quite a funny story actually. When I was six, my short chubby self did not enjoy being around the male party at all. No, I wasn't that girl who yelled out that boys had cooties every time I saw one, but I was the girl who had been into all of the boy stuff and too shy to admit it. You know, Pokemon cards and male dominant shows like 'Avatar the Last Airbender.' I was afraid if I got close to a boy, my cover would be blown, so I tried to stay near a girl friend at all times. We would talk about barbies and the color pink. I felt like I wanted to kill myself...
One day I was riding my bike around my small enclosed neighborhood. Of course I had my dad buy the pinkest and sparkliest bike we could find so I could sustain my girly image. As my wheels and feet went a mile a minute, I saw a boy about my age walking the opposite way that I was biking. My eyes locked on him and I became trapped in a daze. My mind was racing about what if we became friends and actually talked about stuff I really liked! This made me loose my sense of reality and before I knew it, I slammed right into him. There were no broken bones, just a lot of crying and bleeding. Typical Ben. Luckily we crashed close to my house and my mom came running out with her apron on at the sound of my screeching scream trying to help us get up. Right then and there I had apologized and my mom realized that Ben was the son of her old college friend.
"Oh sweetie! This is Ben! He is Lucy's son. You know, my friend who lives down the street." My mother explained in excitement. She had always wanted us to meet, but she probably had not envisioned it that way. Oh well, she got her dream!
I stood there wondering if I should become this kid's friend. I mean he had seemed nice enough after I ran him over with the 'Sparkle-Mobile.' I was giving a big smile to make it less awkward. Missing teeth and all! A couple of seconds went by that felt like forever and I finally just thought, "fuck it! I'll get a new friend! I don't care if it's a boy!" Yup, that sounds like me...
I offered my hand for a welcoming handshake and he eventually shook my hand as the sign of a new screwed friendship with yours truly. A friendship was officially born and after that moment in time, we did everything together.
Fast forward into elementary school and we both found our passion for music, so that was a plus on our friendship. We would hum new songs that we had learned together in the school band and even songs that we had taught ourselves. I remember one time at my house that we began to teach ourselves and listen to Minuet in G Major by Bach. Oh, we were such music geeks! We still are! His attempt to amuse me with his percussion skills to this day is an over sense of confidence. I guess that means he is pretty damn good at it. Or this is at least what I think.
A/N: This was a pretty short chapter but that is because there isn't much to it. I promise that other chapters will be longer. We must have variety though! :)
